How To: Change Taillights..
another easy DIY.. pop that trunk and start dissembling all those moldings.. now take out those screws.. also get in behind the taillight spot the 3 clips.. you have to collapse the clips and push them through to the front very carefully..
DEPO taillights come with all the bulbs already.. now snap everything back in place.. DONE..

I am the 3rd owner of my o3 lancer es
It has TYC aftermarket tail lights and I went to install new depo red clear tail lights and the black (top) and white (bottom) plugs or clips that are seen in the pic above that hold the tail light in place are missing. The tyc tail lights use a bolt with a nut, so they were removed. The new tail lights just have a metal plugs that fit into the white and black grommets. So I was goin to call the stealership and see if I can get these plugs. Any other suggestions?

I have an 02 Lancer and the previous owner installed aftermarket tail lights.
in the second picture there is a black rubber grommet the headlight assembly attaches to and a white one in the right bottom corner, is there something that goes on the tail lights that goes through this hole to keep it secured on the back side. Mine isnt staying in at all, even though the two screws on the left are holding, you can very easily grab the pointed part of the taili light if you rubbed against the car, and can break it.

I have a 03 Lancer es and would like to get some new taillights as well. But from what I'm reading, it sounds like no one has luck with the fitment. Does anyone know of a brand that will not give me any problems with that? I want to plug in and go!
You don't have to do most of that...
on my girlfriend's 2003 Lancer ES,
I unscrewed the two screws at the side of the light with trunk open, and then pulled out the taillights to change the bulb. You don't have to disassemble the moldings or anything, at least not on the ES.
