Concerns about aftermarket parts

So I've got my 2008 Lancer and its only the second car I've owned (the first being a 1995 Toyota 4Runner), and I'm slightly worried about modifying it (as I have almost absolutely no experience in this field whatsoever. To make things clear, I am a newbie, however I want to learn!). I've been taking a look over at the parts from RRM such as the Short Ram Intake, GRIP Spring Kit, Axle Back Exhaust, and also have heard the news of the piggyback that's in the works if I'm not mistaken.

Basically what I want to know is

1. What problems may/will I run into with the warranty / dealership for each particular part?
2. What problems may/will I run into with the car itself after installing said parts?
3. Any other helpful advice anyone knowledgeable can provide me with.

Thanks in advance.

1. If the part causes a problem, the warranty won't cover it. For example, if you buy springs, you void your warranty on suspension-related problems.

2. Shouldn't have any problems if things are installed correctly. The intake, axleback and piggyback should be perfectly fine and just add some power. The springs will make your car ride rougher (but handle better).

3. Don't know what kind of advice you're looking for. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, though.

Thing about those two parts you're looking at is that they should be directly bolt-on so if a problem does come up, if you kept the stock parts you can still put em back on and take it to the dealer and hope they don't notice. It's sneaky, it's deceptive... but...

the mods you list arent major so you dont really have anything to worry about EXCEPT that most likely that it will void your warranty on stuff. Legally in the US, they cant void your warranty unless what you installed is the direct cause of the problem but do you have the money for a lawyer?

I have been tuning since '93 so Ive been through TONS of stuff. I will say that it is an addiction. I started out in '93 with a Suzuki swift and added minor bolt ons then moved to a Civic with intake headers and exhaust.... a year later, turbod it, blew a motor, got another, fully built it, blew headgaskets, blew trannies, blew turbos, voided warranties, broke a lot of stuff, got a lot of tickets and it just kept snowballing....so I got fed up a week ago after 14 years of driving crazy cars and I bought myself a GTS.. When I think of "tuning" my GTS I think I throw up a little in my mouth hahha...but you know what? I would never go back and change things. I had a lot of fun and that what its about but be prepared for the consequences..like I said its an addiction!! Im in no way trying to scare you lol, I just hope you have more control than I did haha

Nope. I'm basing my answers on American law. Sorry!

We have the same federal laws governing the auto warranties in Puerto Rico....but most of the dealers are fed'up of kids that mod the hell out of the new cars...go to race every day that they can on the drag strip and the "street" ; blew up their motor and tranies...and have the nerve to ask for warranty service after taking off all the mods....If you want to play you have to pay for your errors and horrors!
