Sorry if im hi jacking the thread, but dont all the American models have the sirius antenna? I need to know if my AM/FM antenna can be swapped, right on top of the car, to a sirius antenna would i be able to pick up satellite stations? Or do i need some other reciever box under the dash as well?

Hmm, I wonder this too. I haven't looked at a non-Sirius antenna yet.

Are they all the same base?

theres a sirius box behind the glove compartment underneath the dash if you get the sirius equipped option, pretty sure it wont work without that.

Well VG just emailed me back and they say that their sharkfin is not large enough to accommodate the Sirius box on the antenna. So I guess that's out.

For now.

you can actually take the factory sirius antenna out. And then use an aftermarket sat antenna like the "sirmini" replacement antenna you can get at any normal electronics retailer. it will plug right into the sat tuner under the dash, and it works... you just have to find a place for the new antenna to go. On top of the dash up against the windshield will work well.

But that should solve your problem.

Does anyone know if there is a reception difference between the 2" and the 4" versions? I listen to the radio a lot, and I don't want to sacrifice the quality. Thanks!

Any chance I can get a distance shot of the car with the antenna on it looks kind of obvious that it was not designed for the 08 close up just curious if it looks the same far away.

I got the 4" Perrin and the reception is just as good as the stock antenna.

Sure thing.

I keep meaning to get better pics of my mods, but I always think of it at midnight. I'll try to grab the camera after work today.

So it's been awhile, but I just remembered this and thought I'd look into it today. Visual Garage has 2008 in the pull-down menu for the Lancer. I emailed them to double check and they do in fact have shark fin antennas for the '08. These are the ones that come with coiled antennas inside the actual fin that can screw right into the base of the standard antenna. They cost $69 and come painted to match your color code. Shipping is not included in that price, but they do offer group buy discounts of 5 or more.
