Antenna swapping info
In case anyone is thinking about doing it, just some details.
It's a pretty darn close fit. I'm thinking of buying the 2" Perrin antenna since 1) I rarely use my radio and 2) the reception sucks with the huge antenna, why not try a smaller one?
2" Perrin on the 2008 [UPDATED]

2002-2006 generation antenna on antenna mast for 2008 (with S&S, if it matters). Bad cameraphone pic, but you get the idea.

Perrin 2" antenna vs. 2002-2006 Lancer/Evo antenna for length comparison.

When you get it, let me know what the reception is like, compared to the normal antenna. I use Sirius a lot, so if you decided to start your subscription, I'd be interested in knowing if this makes the reception a lot worse.
Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt the sirius antenna the large black base? The other one is just for am/fm....From my experience with my other cars and sirius radios, the antenna was just a small black box, nothing like any type of radio antenna...

Will do. Radio reception is usually ****ty (I live in the sticks), but I can check the free weather station on the Sirius (maybe I'm crazy, but even with no subscription, the weather channel works free; unless my memory is completely off).

And it's on...
Radio reception is unchanged. Again, I don't get great reception to begin with, but tested it out as I drove towards Cleveland; sounded fine. I didn't notice any problems at all. Sirius sounded fine as well.
Yeah, it's about the size of a quarter.

And it's a bit shorter than the stock antenna.

Installed.

And yes, the weather channel is free. 184 (or something close) right?
I don't know much about all this so you might have to bear with me... I definitely think the stock antenna looks goofy being so long. I like the 2" one like blacksheep got, but I'm thinking I'd like the look of a fin antenna like on the high-end luxos more. As far as putting one on, does the make of the car really matter? Cuz I'm thinking you could just find one and slap it on?
