Get the Nokya Yellow Bulbs Vs. PIAA IONs or Applying a yellow film
Nokyas run for as cheap as 22 dollars at big box stores. And they perform well.
I have been running yellows for my headlights and fogs for 5 years now in 3 different cars, so I know their plus's and draw backs. I have also tried PIAAs other bulbs and know them as well.
Nokyas are bright, and generally fail or burn out at the 1.5 year mark. Which at the point doesnt matter because the yellow filter on the bulbs tends to fade at that same 1.5 point turning about 30% whiter, losing its yellow dominance.
Vs. Nokya, my experience with the IONs is they look about the same (a bit brighter due to the gas and technology they employ. But the major downside is the cost. The cost can be upto 3X. The other downside is failure rate. Now i cant talk about the ION bulbs but I have use the Purples GTX that PIAA had a while back. I have had a bulb blow out 3 times within the 1 year period, on two different cars. so thats 6 sets? unsure why,. My working theory is that due to the way they have patented their bulbs to work with lower wattage, I think the bulbs are suseptible to failure under unstable voltage levels. Meaning if you are running a sub / amp audio system and do not employ a capacitor, then you are giving your headlights terrible surges that speed up the blow out death of the bulb.
After comparing my situation with others in my other car club thats the only thoery that works. All that aside.
I select Nokyas over other bulbs just cause of the fact that I have used them for a while, there are other bulbs are better, no doubt, MTEC, PIAA, and so on, but these ones give good light, they are cheap, and reliable.
Just make sure you get them from an authorized dealer, their are alot of fakes out there.
My two cents
