Ok I have a question. On a few threads I have read on here people talk about there car being brought in certain miles. When am I supposed to be bringing my car in? For what? And does it cost money when you bring it in every once in a while? People talk about lubing bushings or something this and that? Help
See I dont know about your dealers but mine really sucks. I have brought mine in for problems and they push me away saying theres nothing wrong. It was fine when we checked it. So what happens when I bring my car in and there really is a problem but they dont feel like fixing it? You know like I say this is wrong. "O no thats fine". Well there the mechanics there always right?

Most maintenence servce is going to cost you somthing if you arent already having work done in that area of the car. As far as your dealer telling you there is nothing wrong with your car, check the known problems page on this site, if you have to, print it and take it with you, and if that dont work, contact HQ.
Put Mitsu Coporate on that a$$.
They should have given you a manual, and in the back somewhere it has a maintenence schedule. Mine says every 7500 for normal things. It may be in a smaller little book i dont remember. Should have came with the manual.

My dealership has me coming in every 5000 miles for oil changes, and I assume that's because of the synthetic. And my 7500 mile service thing on the dash board is telling me to go in now, and I am just over 6000 miles right now. WTF is up with that?
Question: If my car only has around 1800miles on it, but it has been 6months since I got the car, should I wait for an oil change until 3000miles or should I go now since it has been 6months?
I emailed the service people at the dealership and they said waiting till 3000 is ok, but like the OP I'm not sure...

As far as how long, it depends on what oil is in the car. I would think, from the factory, we'd all have the same. I dont understand why the dealership would tell us every 3000, when the manual, and car tells us 7500.
Personally, every 7500 is better, even if it is a little more expensive. Its not twice as much, which every 3k would be. In 15k, we would change it 5 times, where at 7500 only twice. Synthetic oil is not supposed to be changed every 3k. It ranges from 5k to 10k depending on manufacturer. I think ill email coporate to ask. Im also going to email my dealership to find out what kind of oil we use. I suggest you do the same. Then when we find out what kind of oil, we can make our own decision.
If it is fully synthetic, im not changing mine, ill use mobile 1, and go 10k. It will cost 50$ every change, but try gettin 3 conventional oil changes for anywhere near that.

The answer to when to bring in your car for service is simple... depends on your driving style.
If you drive the car like its your little baby and caress it, then every 7.5k is fine.
If you drive your car as though it's a beast and push it, then every 3k is the best bet.

Sorta off topic... People say if you change the spark plugs your self it voids warranty. I dont usually ask questions like this but hey.. I cant see how it would.. Unless your dumb and you mismatch the sparkplug wires
Corporate and complain. Or just threaten the Service Manager with a lawyer. They CANNOT legally deny you warranty coverage because you DIYed things. But it is a GREAT idea to keep your receipts so you can PROVE that you did the service.
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. It would work against you in this case if something were to go wrong because the dealership could clearly see if a spark plug was gapped improperly or you broke off a tip and it fell into the engine (happened to my friend). A warranty and the Act cover you for maintenance, but not so much for a "best attempt" at maintenance:
"...the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by damage while in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance."
"Reasonable" is an umbrella word that would work against you if you screw up your own car trying to maintain it.
