Do Bigger Tires/Rims require you to raise suspension?

Just curious because I have 15's and I wanted to get some better tires, preferably some 16'. Now for whatever reason on my current setup my car looks pretty low as is (I didn't add any custom suspension). Would my car need to be raised in order to fit 16's on?

I'm not very viechle savy so please excuse my noobness.. I'm just learning

As long as you get the right sized tires, no.

Use this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html, it'll tell you how tall your new tires are in comparison to the old tires.
