"Debadging"
"Debadging"
Newbie here wanting to know the quickest n easiest, pain-free way of de-badging the rear of the lancer. I am planning to debadge everything and installing the big "LANCER" nameplate from the 03' model.
It's pretty easy, even easier if you do it when it's hot out. The badges are attached with an adhesive, so when it's hot, the adhesive loosens its grip a bit. If it's not hot outside, you can always hit it with a hair-dryer or a heat gun. Anyway, after it's been warmed up a little, grab some fishing line or some floss, something like that, and kinda slide it behind the letters and then make your way through the gummy adhesive. Sometimes it will come right off, sometimes you might need a little elbow grease and some of the sticky stuff will be left on the paint. If that happens, it's no big deal, just hit it with some Goo-Gone or even a rag with dish soap. It should come off. Another heads up, if you're thinking of preserving the badges for any reason, be particularly gentle. I got the "Mitsubishi" off in one piece on my car, but the "Lancer" broke off between some of the letters.
