NEW (to me) 2003 OZ

Im looking into getting one.
$5k is the price
61k miles
5 spd
what should i keep my eye open for when going to look at it.
Are there any common problems when it comes to these cars?

I am not used to Mitsu's or FWD cars for that matter: currently selling my 92 300zx : so hopefully you guys/gals can fill me in on the quirks of these cars.

I had an '03 OZ. Only thing that I had any issue w/was the temp dial on the climate control was notchy & eventually got stuck in one position due to poor quality plastics behind the unit. It cost me about $250 to get it fixed. Other than that it was a great car during the 40,000 miles that I had it for.

I would suggest you do a search and read the forums to help you in your decision. The only problems I can think of are crappy paint and issues with the temperature control knob.

few recalls. one to get a ecu reflash because they run wich and ruins cats. Other for temp knob. Sway bar endlinks rust out early it seems. Other then that. solid daily drivers.

also, stock struts & brakes didn't last too long for me - had to replace them after a couple years (I like to hit corners hard).

Your getting a better deal then me, I just paid $6900 for my oz with 104k, but I had a trade in that we had to get rid of and got $2900 for it, so the price was really $4000 for us. They run great. With 104k on mine, all it needs is some clutch work I think and a quick sunroof fix with screw problem. Oh, it needs new brakes. I couldn't be happier.

I've had my lancer for about 5 years (bought it brand new for about 12 or 13k)

I'm currently at 105K miles and it still runs great.

As mentioned before, there was an ECU reflash (to correct the car running too rich).

I have a 5 speed and I'm still on the original clutch (however I should mention that most of my driving is highway miles).

I've replaced the brakes once and the tires once.
Aside from the normal maintenance the car has been totally solid.

Best of luck!
