well I'm going to chime in and state the obvious.
The op will do one of the following:
A) Keep ranting about how bad *** his lancer will be with an engine swap and remain completely oblivious to what everyone is telling them. He will never save up the money, and the car will remain the same
B) He will do some research, realize the 4G94 is not a performance engine, and that he should save his money for something else. and the car will remain the same
C) He will spend between $5,000 - $10,000 to do an engine swap, possibly turbo it, and rebuild the entire transmission, and suspension. Then his car will be virtually un-drivable, and he will sell it.
or most likely is, that everyone will voice their various opinions on the matter, this thread will die out, and nothing will ever be done....ever. Thus completing the EvoM circle of life

Now here's my question... why even do an engine swap? Unless you have the resources and the know-how to do so, I don't recommend an engine swap. It is A LOT of work and you will be running into problems left and right... trust me on this...
I can tell you're not made of money... so why bother? Don't take this as me knocking you down or anything... but you really don't have a reason to even consider a swap.

Do you have a written agreement that they will only charge 800$? If they run into problems, do you really think they'll just absorb the cost of new sensors, new wires, etc.? Seriously, engine swaps are not all they are made out to be, you don't drive a Honda and this isn't Import Tuner, it's a lot harder than you think and the rewards are pretty slim (in this case spending thousands to gain 30 hp or so).

So you're telling me that this shop has swapped a 4g64 into a Lancer before? If not... be VERY wary. The shop that did the 4g64 swap for that guy ran into problems... and even they couldn't figure out how to get it right. It took a Mirage guy 5 minutes to explain what was wrong in order for the shop to FINALLY get it right.
I hope you know what you're getting yourself into...
