Question Making My ES-Sport AWD???

I bought a 2009 ES-Sport about 2 months ago and really want to turn it into an Evo X...

I was wondering if I I could use the rear transaxle and drive shaft off the Evo X?

What else would i have to do to so it would have AWD???

you'd also need the transfercase, i believe the transmission, the ECU tuned to allow AWD or something along those lines. Not to mention, redirecting the exhaust piping/hangers. Channeling the floorboard to allow a drive shaft. New Rear Suspension to accommodate the forces that will be applied to the rear(might be talking out my *** on this one but it makes sense to me).

It is probably more trouble than its worth IMO.

You would have more money into your car to make it awd minus the turbo, than it would be to have an Evo X.

Yeah, I think the best route for turning it into an Evo is to take it to the dealer and trade it in for one.

This is has been discussed since many times with 02-06 Lancer owners. In all honesty, if your pockets are deep enough, then go for it. If not, trade it in and buy an EVO.

Small list:

4B11T (I think)
Transmission
Transfer case
Front and rear suspension components
Front fenders
Rear fenders
front brakes
Deep pockets
rear brakes
cooling system
all the electronics that are associated with the EVO X
Very deep pockets
A damn good mechanic that you can trust
Wheels and tires
Very deep pockets

That is just a start, I know I missed a few things.

if your willing to drop more than 10K on AWD than go for it...its not gonna be cheap..but it definitly can be done..

if ur serious about it i would look into the outlander and its AWD rather than the Evo's

ive done resarch on it myself.. its still not out of the question but i have other things i want to get done first..

This.

Since your car is practically new, you will lose little in trade in for an Evo.
