How To: Replace Standard Head Unit with Touchscreen

I have an almost base 2008 Lancer with the standard (not satnav) music player with the 6 disk stacker. I am also looking to replace it with an after market DVD player head unit with satnav. However I have a few questions:

1. The center console cover does not look like it would accommodate an after market head unit (because the opening for the music player is angled), do I need to replace the cover with the OEM cover which comes on the Lancers that have the stock satnav? (I'm talking about the cover that sits between the two center a/c vents)

2. If so, how big a head unit would I be able to fit? 7"?

3. Does the 6 disk stacker get removed with the original player as well?

PS I could not find these answers anywhere in the forum, if this question has been asked before, can you please tell me what to search for?

Thanks

Go to crutchfield.com and buy a radio that cost more than $100 and the new dash kit piece and wiring harness will come with the radio for free.

The PAC SWI will keep your steering controls. The new radio will be Bluetooth.

Any double DIN will fit. The brackets are new ISO (standard) and will transfer over to the new radio.

The best fit for radio face adapter is American International or the JDM Nav Install Kit. Google both. Avoid Scoshe or Metra. I will sell you my old Metra adapter - but like all Metra for Lancer - it doesn't fit well enough for my standard. Make me an offer +shipping and it is yours. But I warned you!

Check the audio forum for more info.

Veronica-

I got my Dash kit from scosche:

Link: http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/ins...kt-dbl-din-kit

I really like it. It fit nice and matched the black interior. It can be Double Din and Single Din.

I got my wire harness off of amazon.

My radio head is a 7"

I hope that this helps.

Thanks Always,
Ashley
