Need your advice EvoM

First.. Nice to meet ya's. I'm kind of new here. I wanted to throw this out here as most everyone on here is pretty level headed when it comes to their Lancers.

I have an 09 Lancer GTS Rotor Glow with RRM headers, RRM RA Intake, A'Pexi exhaust, Tein S-type springs, remote start, 30% tint.

I am looking at the next upgrades to do and I am torn on what to do first.

Should I go with the Sprint Booster or Crank Pulley (RPW) and (RRM) Timing Controller?

Eventually it's all going to get done, but I am curious as to what everyone thinks should be done first. I am totally on the fence with this one.

And thanks in advance!

Oh and no, I am not going to scrap it all and go turbo hehe seems to be a popular answer on here.

I would go with the crank pulley to be honest. I'm not sure if the timing control box is really going to add all that much power, as I haven't really heard about anyone's experiences with it.
Let us know how the RPW pulley goes if you decide to get that one, I've been looking at the RPW vs. the RRM one now for weeks and have yet to decide between them.

I had a 2009 GTS and I bought the crank pulley, timing controller, and piggy back all from RRM. I also had a custom exhaust and Injen CAI. Halo headlights, Carbon Fiber hood, LED tail lights, 15% tint windows, and premium wheels and rims. I probaly had the most upgraded non turbo GTS in Washington. I recently traded in my GTS for a 09 ralliart. Even with all those upgrades the GTS has nothing on the fun of driving the turbo mitsubishi. My advice would be to just trade it in for the ralliart or evo. But back on your question, I felt no difference in power when i installed the timeing controller or piggy back. The crank pulley however did prove its value. Allot better throttle response. If I could go back, I wouldnt waste my money on the Timeing controller and piggy. Maybe somehow install the rest of your parts and get a custom tune? Best of luck with your Mods!!

Nice ride, I'm not sure about those rims, though lol. I can identify with the OP, I'm looking to put some work into my car, but unfortunately for me right now, and Evo or R/A isn't financially in the cards right now. I would suppose that no matter what, if all those parts were installed like you had, a tune would have significantly helped you out as far as getting all the power out of the car and mods as possible...

Also, which crank pulley did you get? Was it the RPW or RRM? I've heard a couple bad things about the RRM, and I don't know much about RPW except that they're apparently Australian-based, but this is the only performance part I've heard of them making...

Haha. You said you noticed the increase in power/throttle response from it, right? And did you have any issues with it (others have had a lot)?

I can honestly say, that was the only item (crank pulley ) i have ever purchased from RRM that i didnt have a problem with.

I've been on the fence about it for a while, so I guess I'm gonna go ahead and purchase it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah, that's what I have heard. I know that RRM made some changes to both their SRI and their crank pulley (and put out a "v2" of both, which is what they currently sell), but I haven't heard anything about them making changes to the headers.

I'm thinking though, with the NA lancer, wouldn't you want to keep the stock headers in the car to keep more back-pressure? It's not like the car has a turbo or anything that can put out anything extra for you, you kinda need all the pressure you can get... Maybe my thinking is wrong on that, though as I've seen a lot of owners, including yourself with the headers.

Also, how did you like the Injen intake? I'm looking into getting that, as well. Is there any other CAI that is more performance-oriented than that one that you know of?

Yes, thank you for the advice. I am leaning even more now toward the pulley and timing controller first (although everything I've read about the sprint booster intriques me) I think my biggest gains will be with those 2.

As far as the Rally Art and Evo's, I couldn't find an Evo in my area to save my life when I bought my car. That's actually what I was in the market for initially. They did have a Rally Art, but it was the hatch back, and Im not a fan of that body style. I saw the Rotor Glow GTS on the lot and it was loaded so my mind set kind of changed to ok, well if I can't find what I want, then I'll build up what I can get. I kind of looked at it as everyone expects a Rally Art or Evo to be quick, no one will expect a GTS to be worked. I guess my impatience got the best of me. Hind sight, I would have either gotten the Rally Art, or held out for the Evo, but I'm not exactly patient.

If I didn't just buy my wife a Pontiac G6 hard top convertible, I'd have traded in my GTS and gotten a used Evo from somewhere. (Hmmm.. I wonder if I can work her G6 into something haha)

But, them's breaks. I love my Lancer tho, so I am going to continue to work on it. I've accepted that Im not gonna run 13's or throw small children into the back seat when I launch. But I will make it as quick and as showy as I can. I still turn more heads than my cousin's (worked) Civic Si

Yea when i got my GTS, i was pretty much in the same predicument. The dealers in my area just didnt have any evos or ralliarts so i settled. Maybe you should consider CAI and pulley? Timeing controller really wasnt all it was put out to be....(my opinion). and your right i loved my GTS when i had it, And it always got compliments but the speed i initially wanted just wasnt there so deep down i wasnt happy....I ended up paying on it till i was positve on the loan and used it as trade in on the ralliart..maybe something to think about...Have fun with your GTS!!
