See that. Great minds think alike I am actually considering doing that very thing.

I have considered the CAI but the SRI is safer (no worries of sucking water into the intake) and gives satisfying results. It's not really worth changing out (IMHO). I'm also waiting on a call back from my tuner shop to see if they can do the ECU tune. They do Evo's but I think they have to get the software for the CVT 2.4 Mivec.

Just called back, they have to make sure they have a cable that fits my car not the software...

Ok... So $150 for the pulley install and ECU tune is my quote.

I'm glad you brought up the cosmetics of the car. If someone is in the market for an all-out performance car, obviously the Lancer GTS isn't the ideal choice. People are more likely to go with the typical Si or SRT-4, etc., but when I was debating about purchasing my car, it was based more on aesthetics and functionality than all-out performance (well, finances did have something to do with it, or else I would have an Evo sitting in my garage right now lol) than the power that the car could put out.

I don't care if I don't run 13's either, I'd much rather have a car that has sleek styling that's unique that I can still put some work into if I want to.

Well, there is a hydroshield (or whatever it's called) that's basically a sock that sits over the CAI to prevent water from getting in, but I haven't heard much about how well it works. I can't imagine that you'd get a lot of water in the intake anyway, unless you're driving through big puddles a lot...

That's pretty damn good. The pulley install is like a 5-10 minute job if you know what you're doing (I've seen a couple install videos online), but $150 for that and the tune? That's really good. I've gotta call up Ivey Tune (extremely popular Evo tuner around the corner from me) and see what they'll charge...I'm sure they've tuned regular Lancers before...

I had the Injen CAI with the hydoshield and it worked just fine. I had it on my car for about 2 years and I live in the most rainy state in the US...washington. Of course you do have to use some common sense when driving in wet conditions. Dont drive through a lake!

Exactly! Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Glad to finally hear a testimonial about the hydroshield (and a positive one at that). Looks like the purchase of the CAI is locked in for me.
