Okay where do I begin?
I saw a couple of guys having trouble with this so I'll just post up how I did it.

What you need...
1) A kit for interior lights, I used this one because it was the cheapest and easier to install. http://www.ledunderbody.com/red4pcledinteriorkit.aspx
2) Zip Ties
3) Exacto Knife or Scissors
4) Long 10mm wrench (for battery)
5) Ring Terminals (2)

Now for the installation...
1) Disconnect the negative terminal first and take it off the prong thing. Be very careful.

2) Disconnect the positive terminal inside the fuse box. Be careful not to touch the negative terminal on the battery with the wrench.

3) Once you have the kit ready (unwrapped from the packaging) lay out the control box on the drivers seat and start putting the lights where you want them to go.
4) For the driver's seat I just put the wires under the carpet and along the right side of the center console.
5) Attach the light with zip ties (both sides of the light) on any bar that you see under the dash.

6) Now the passenger's side is the same but you have to make sure you hide the wires under the dash really well.
7) For this light I used the double sided tape that came with the kit because there isn't a bar to zip tie it to. Just use good judgment on where to apply the light to prevent from others kicking it or seeing it.

8) Now the two back seats are the easiest to do. For under the driver's side just zip tie the light to the bar that runs across the back of the seat. Cut any excess zip tie on both sides.

9) The passenger's seat is the same but just make sure u hide the wires really well under the back of the center console.
10) Zip tie the light to the same bar and cut any excess zip tie.

11) Now check all of your wiring and make sure it's well hidden. For the front driver's side light I used clear tape to the wire. You could see it on the bottom right of the picture.

12) Mount the control box anywhere you prefer that is easier for you to get to. I put mine next to the trunk/gas levers.

13) Now the wiring that goes to the battery (black/red wires) I just ran it through the fender and straight to the battery.


14) Now attach the negative and positive wires to the ring terminals.
15) First connect the positive (red wire) ring terminal to the positive terminal in the fuse box. Be careful not to touch the negative terminal on the battery with the wrench.

16) Do the same for the negative (black wire) terminal and connect it to the negative terminal on the battery.

17) Should look like this

18) Cover up the fuse box and put the key in the ignition to let the car restart itself. Start the car and let it run for 10 minutes or so.
19) Turn on your lights and enjoy!!!

 

Is there any way to connect this with your door? So that way when the door opens these lights will turn on also?

 

Yes you just have to re-wire the wiring to the dome lights. That's the only way I can think of.

 

hey, did you add a toggle on switch?
also whats the difference b/t the kit you purchased and the "expandable" ones?
like, what does expandable mean?

Oh yea, do you know if i get a multi color switch, will i be able to use it with a switch? (like pause it a color, and just use the switch to control on and off and never have to touch the control box)

 

I didn't add a toggle on switch, the kit came with a control box that turns lights on/off and has different lighting settings.
I'm pretty sure the expandable ones just expand a little longer if needed.
If you get the kit then you wont need a multi-color switch. All the color variations will be on the control box that you can change whenever you want.
I personally think having a control box is better than a switch.
1) easier to mount
2) easier to have access to it
3) no need for drilling holes
4) a switch is a little dangerous because wires are left exposed and you can get hurt

It was actually fairly easy. The hard part is having to open up the box and take out the lights.

 

I think I'm going to re-wire the wires that run along the fender because I don't really like them showing. Another project for me to do

 

good you know how to do this so you can help me, i set mine up but now the damn thing wont turn on i cant figure it out.

 

Did you buy the kit or did you buy 4 separate tubes and hooked them up?

 

looks like mine except I ran it through one of the holes in the firewall so the wires aren't visible

 

Yea I wanted to do that too but I was in a hurry to install it. Now that I have time I'm too lazy to re-wire everything. lol
I'll probably do it tomorrow cuz I have some free time.

Hey did you cover up the wires so they won't melt from the heat or did you leave them exposed?

 

??? Your wires get that hot? Aren't they insulated?

 

You see the picture where I ran it through the fender then to the battery?
Well the part that covers the wire melted a couple of days ago and started to spark (scared the crap out of me!)
So I wrapped it all with electrical tape.

 

did you check your wires? what fuse are you using? that wire looks pretty thin too...
