I just bought a 02 Lancer I hate the grill and its broken. I have been looking for a replacement and I cant find anything I like. I think it would look good with just mesh where the grill is but i have no idea how to go about doing this. any ideas? I would like the grill to look like this.

 

Go to Lowes and buy a big sheet of that gutter guard for like $3.00.
Trim it to size with wire cutters.

When I had my stock grill I took out the two black inserts and pressed the mesh around the stock grill pieces to keep the same shape. Then I trimmed up the mesh and got some really thin wire to hold it in place.

 

thanks thats a good idea I was afraid it would be difficult since the grill kinda hangs over the bottom of the hood but I am going to try this.

 

hmm, thats a better idea than what i did. I just took out the inserts and replaced it with expanded steel and had it held in with black silicone. It looked ok at first but now it looks like ***.

 

i used to do that
but honestly,short term you will be happy (coz cheaper and better than having stock)..but long time you are way better off just ordering the fiberglass evo style grill from roadrace or something
