I'm not so good with sound systems but I sure do love them. First of all, I will not change my stock one because it is the SH*T haha love it. But my question is if I want to buy a MP3 CD-Player for my car will it sound better? (more bass,louder?) or do I would I have to buy an amp or new speakers

ahh Alpine 9857. Listen to this, when I had the stock stereo I thought it sounded great. I then upgraded to Alpine 9856(same as 9857 except the 57 has an upgraded display) along with 2 upgraded speakers (Alpine Type S), and lemme tell you, it makes stock sound like ***.

You don't have to buy an amp or new speakers, although if you have the S&S package you're gonna have to buy an amp(from what I've told)

I had the S&S system in my car, and it sounded good.

Then I wanted mp3 playback, so I put in an Alpine CDA-9853 head unit and CHA-S634 6-disc mp3 changer. That, with the Soundgate adapter cable to connect to the stock S&S amp, made it sound better. Hard to explain, but it sounded better playing mp3s than the stock HU did playing CDs.

Then I wanted a little more bass, so I added a 10" Infinity Basslink, and am now quite happy with the way it sounds.

Mysz: I had no idea the Soundgate cable works, cause many people I've talked to have had problems trying to keep the stock amp while upgrading the HU and subs(which is kinda pointless).
