New CF Idea. Wut u guys think?

Just testing the waters for your opinion on a custom body piece made out of CF. I don't know how to mold CF, or anything of that sort. So I might go to a place to get this custom done if it isn't too much $$$.

I have the Kaminari front bumper. I'd think it would look bad *** if this part of the bumper was made out of Carbon Fiber. Wut u guys think? If it were made it would compliment black headlights and CF Hood fo sho, which I'm planning on getting during the spring. How Much would something like this cost u think?

well i don't think you could just get a piece of the bumper made out of CF, you would have to get the entire thing done and then paint what you didn't want

even tho it would look badass it would cost a lot of money, i could or Frank could prob CF that bumper for you so you could at least see the end result

i've had the same idea as you, but for the ken style front bumper... just a ridge of CF to line the bottom... not only would it look SWEET, but it'd provide me with a little bit of rigidity down there where the bumper scrapes every once in a while... my understanding is that CF would hold up a bit better than PFRP does.

bottom line, i think you have a great idea... and as for the comment above, there's no reason you can't simply wrap a segment of your bumper in CF, or attach CF to it; there's no need to have the entire bumper made of CF.

well i think its just a matter of stretching the carbon fiber over the piece and hot glueing it to the inside of the bumper, then pour the clear resing over it to harden it and have the wet look. look at kontradictions old threads about his carbon fiber escapades.

it'd look nice, but be nightmare-ishly expensive in the long run. as was mentioned it would be more rigid than the pfrp, but if you actually hit something, it would scrape and possibly crack the fibre, where in the same situation the pfrp would have flexed and just got a few scratches.

one way to do it.... cut out that piece and have one made out of carbonfiber exactly the same but anout 3-4 inches longer with a bit of a flange to attach it, then us aluminum rivets to attach it from the back. I am not big on CF parts, but I think it would look pretty sweet.

up close i think it would look cool, however, from a distance i think it would make that piece dissapear and your bumper would look pretty weird.

cant vote bc you didnt put up enough options, i say dont do it, but i dont think cf is played out just yet

OK, a few things... first you cant stretch or glue carbon fiber and yes you can have that part done in carbon fiber. Many car audio shops use real carbon fiber to cover fiberglass boxes for custom installs. If you go to them they will be able to do it. Make sure they use an external use resin and not an interior one. I highly suggest that once it is done that you go and have the piece clearcoated at a body shop to prevent stone chips and weathering. Good luck and keep us posted.

It'll look cool, but me personaly, I like the carbon fiber under-spoiler that you see on JGTC cars with matching canards on the side.

i just think its overkill. i mean only makin one peice cf. and the rest is normal... form affar it will look like u hit roadkill and ur missin a peice and up close i cant imagine the thing lookin smooth in transition, maybe (if ur gonna do it) u should just overlay the cf... mybe thats what u were gonna do, anyways... cf hood is nice... but ur car is just so clean i feel this cf peice will ruin that. i just wish we had a spoiler made for under the bumper of the 0z or bodykits, like a cf splitter thingie i dont kno what its called lol.. i think those look nice ,.. my .02
