yeah i was thinking about getting a cf hood (my stock hood is already rusting in the front!! ). But yeah, what i have read so far is that you should keep anything made out of cf, out of the suns way is that correct? I use to live in las vegas and many of my friends didn't get a cf hood or trunk...they were saying that cf would warp due to EXTREME heat. Is that also correct? I was only living in vegas for 1 year...

Also does rain damage a cf hood/trunk in any way? Rains a lot here in Nor. Cal. thanks in advance.

Most quality CF hoods/trunks are UV protected and cleared coated, which would keep it safe from the sun and rain...

"pray" .

See that's the problem...no room in the garage for my car thanks for the info though. hmm still undecided i would hate to have a cf hood + trunk combo only to find months later that its faded or warped well i'm gonna do more research just to make sure if it's a good idea.

paint the cf or my stock hood? well if you're talking about my stalk hood, that's my point. i don't wanna have to keep repainting my hood every couple of months. that's why i thought of getting a cf hood+trunk combo

Repainting your stock hood every couple of moths? Why? What's wrong with it? Anyway, there is a special wax or something for carbon fiber hoods and trunks, just call VIS or Carbontrix and ask them. Eventually they should send you some kind of manual or something explaining how to take the parts.

hey, i'm up here in new york where we get soem sun, snow rain and whatever. i have cf trunk and hood. the cf hoods r usually UV protected by the clear coat. i leave my car outside in da snow and rain and no damage to the cf. cf has been on for over a yr. we just had a blizzard and the cf is still fine. there really is no maintance to it.

reasons why the front of my oem hood is rusting...

1) I don't park it in my garage.

2) It rains A LOT here in nor. cal.

3) I've been driving back in forth from the bay to Las Vegas, i'm assuming all that desert wind rushing towards my car had a little to do with the rust.

It shouldn't be rusting, regardless. Have Mitsu replace it under warrenty (or at least try).

Send a PM to adamkean. He lives in Arizona and has a CF trunk. He's all over CF and will be able to help you out!

o if any1 knows any negatives to a cf hood/trunk (other than your car will get jacked if you park it in the wrong neighborhood) that would be helpful as well.
