Quote: Most of what you said I understand but the only thing I don't like is the "rice" comment....That term gets used for everything that isn't to ones liking it seems. My defintion of rice is just buying random parts and throwing everything on to your car that will fit, with no theme at all in mind. I have a defintie theme going........

Now to address that I make my car "look" fast. I don't know how that is when I don't have a fart can on the back to mimick a full exhause, I don't have a 3 ft tall wing to "look" fast, I don't have NOS stickers, and so on and so on. I've never once claimed to have a fast car and it will probably never be fast. I have a 120 hp car, seriously how fast can it get. I bought the car caused I liked the way it looked and would be reliable. Now if I had a 05 Evo like you, then I might spend my money to make an already great car faster. But for me I can't see myself spending $400 for an exhaust, $250 for an intake, $200 for headers and gaining what 15 hp MAX. Now I'm at 135hp and I'm still slow. If I was worried about performance I would have bought a performance car. But I'll quit rambling......

I'm sorry if I'm coming off like an ***, I just don't like my car being called " the pure definition of rice" I seen alot of other cars alot worse then mine
No, you're not being an *** at all...you have a very valid point, because you don't have a fart can and huge wing, which is what you commonly see on cars that are referred to as "ricey," but the problem is that graphics and all that crazy paint exude 2F2F vibes, and that was all about being the fastest on the block. When something that looks like your car rolls up, the first thing everybody thinks is, "Damn, that thing BETTER be fast as hell." The moment people find out it's got less nuts than a base SOHC Neon, the noses start to crinkle. This can be exemplified by an Auto-X I participated in last week. There was one Evo that was completely decked out with a nice combination of graphics naming each of his sponsors. When he started his run, I heard some hecklers behind me saying, "Well, he sure LOOKS fast, but watch him suck." Well, when that Evo got FTD on his very first run and no one got within .2s of it, they changed their tune in a hurry. The next comment I heard was, "Wow...well, it didn't look like he was going that fast...." In this case, the car (and driver) was able to back up the implied claims of the graphics...

The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip.

You at least don't have the big exhaust tip, but the definition still applies.

Quote: I don't even sweat it.........some people won't like it. So the ratio of people that like it to the people that don't is about 99:1 right now . Going off of that ratio, I don't think I have to worry about a few comments like that

I tend to think that the ones who don't like it just don't want to say anything and be rude. As for myself the car is not at all my taste (I don 't like the yellow Lancers in the first place though ), and I agree with the 2F2F comment made and the way the car is seen.... IMO: I think it's fuggly and did about a month ago when I first saw the thread, I am just not usually one to be critical.... But to each his own!

While I don't agree that the car is completely "riced out", he did make some valid points, to many people it would be considered a somewhat "rice" car simply because the mods done to it have no value whatsoever in terms of performance. I consider "rice" to be anything done to a car that is either neutral or detrimental to performance that is done under the assumption that it will actually increase performance, huge wings and fart cans fit nicely into this definition. Now then, this means your car is fine, its not rice simply because you are perfectly aware that no performance gains have been made, you simply wanted your car to look better, which is fine.
