Exclamation OEM Spoiler Question

Okay everyone...I have searched over the forums several times, and I may just be missing something, but I haven't found any of the answers to my questions about adding an OE spoiler to my ES Lancer.

1.) Where did everyone purchase their spoilers, and how was the quality of the spoiler and/or paint if ordered painted? (I was looking at spoiler depot)

2.) How are these spoilers installed? (yes...bolts, but where do they come out on the underside of the trunk, and is it very difficult to add on?)

3.) How do you wire up the LED brake light? (Is there a factory pre-installed harness in the trunk?)

4.) How do you seal the trunk lid so that water doesn't seep under the spoiler and into the trunk?

Thanks in advance, and I'm really sorry if I totally missed all of this during my searching!

Also, if anyone has pics of the underside of their trunk where the bolts are installed, that would be great!

1) i would say on here mainly (guys get rid of them all the time)
2) just have to measure and drill. can't be too tough
3) i'm pretty sure there is a harness in there, but i'll check later
4) i would imagine there is some sort of rubber seal on the spoiler to help with that problem.

on my 04, there is a harness in the trunk, so i can take my spoiler off and wire a third brakelight in my rear windshield and into my trunk. and on the gasket, if you don't want to buy one, get a rubber sticky mat thing, cut it out to fit between your trunk and spoiler then stick it under the spoiler.

yes, on a oz there is a harness for the led brake light.
I bought evo spoiler from road race motorsports but if your looking for oz search through the for sale threads or call up a dealer.
Installing is a matter of making a template and drilling holes. I dont have a pic but on the underside where the bolts end up is, 1 on very conrer where there is no reinforcment. and others are in line with that but the hole goes through the reinforce metal.center pillar is right in center.
To stop leeking you could use silicone or just get some kinda gasket that will fit.

I bought evo VII wing in ABS, dont buy a high wing in ABS because it will shake in the wind, Im having to reinforce mine so it wont do that......or just get a high wing with a center pillar.

--RRM makes a nice low wing in CF, you may want to check that out.(no center pillar) looks great

personally, i'd buy the CF low wing from RRM. Unless you get the OE wing from someone on this site, a dealership will rape you (and your family members) on the price. Plus, the RRM low wing already eliminated the hideous center pillar.

Why did you post this in show and shine anyways?

TravelSize,

I posted this in show and shine due to the heading on the main page:

Anyway, I'm not looking to buy an OZ spoiler from a dealer, I'm looking to buy one from an aftermarket manufacturer who makes OEM look-alike spoilers. (www.spoilerdepot.com) You can order them pre-painted, and some of the companies even offer the spoiler without the center section. I was just wondering if anyone else had done this before, how they did it, and how it turned out.

ok if the pic shows up ok, its the left side of the lid. The two highlighted circles farthest left are the two spoiler bolts covered by robber things. The long highlighted part (I believe the black one) is the brake light wire. look on the roof inside your trunk and see if there is a connector next to the light.

Here ya go. I just took these tonight. The red circles should answer all your questions. I circled where the bolts were that hold the spoiler as well as where the third brake light connection is under the rear deck by the dome light.

Thanks so much!! You guys ROCK!! Mystery solved...the ES actually has pre-puched holes in the sheet metal right where your bolts are, which will make for an easy install! The wiring harness for the brake light is pre-installed in the trunk as well. As far as the OZ spoiler goes, though, my car is Rio Red (R20). I know someone who can get me a great deal on an OEM certified (aftermarket) spoiler that is pre-painted! All I need to do is make an order...THANX!
