Whoever decides to jump in on this convo, lets not turn this into a discussion about "my ghettos harder than your hood" and "youre white, so you cant talk like that", (and Im not white anyway) etc etc...
I'm sorry but I consider it "ganster" talk, its butchering the english language simply because people are too lazy to dot their i's and a cross their t's. I don't care if you're white, black, yellow, orange, red, or purple, its not the way you speak if you want to earn respect and be seen as something other than just another punk kid. Last time I checked Einstein never yelled "hey my homies, lets all go to the west siiiieeede!".

I think youre the one turning it into a racial slur. Not me.

If Im talking as in "Aye das ma' nigg@!" (Hey, thats my friend!) thats one thing. What youre thinking is a different word, which I dont use, and doesnt have the same meaning.

Yes, that is me in my picture (response to someone elses comment). So you say people wouldnt appretiate it, and kick my ***?
I bet if I was black or latino like Big Pun or Fat Joe (who say it) you wouldnt think that...?
I get it, you think Im white.
Well, Im not. Im straight outta Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
Again, youre making it into a racial slur. Not me; and Nah nigg@, noone has kicked my *** cus I said Nigg@ in front of them. Its spoken to me all the time.
I undertstand how its bothersome to some people, I know blacks who dont like it even. However I think its misconstrude.
Regardless, if its such a big deal I guess Ill make an effort to refrain...
Still comments like this are what make it offensive, moreso than the use of the word.
Alright I'll tackle this one.
1. Judging from the picture you are white or hispanic. Now I understand that we live in a "diverse and tolerant culture" but this is still an important observation.
2. No one ever said that rappers are right in use of the word. However, they are one thing that you are not, black.
3. The term you are using began as a racist term. It has racist implications regardless of your intentions and these implications can be offensive to some people. The same applies to calling things "jap".
4. Now then, using the information from 1-3 we can see the problem. You, not being a member of the culture at hand, have no real right to use that word. The problem lies in the idea outlined in number 3, it is a racist term. This means that if someone not of the race in question uses the word, they are effectively repeating the years of racism regardless of whether they actually intend for it to be racist. The same basic rule applies to words like "***" and "queer", these are not words a straight male can use to describe a homosexual man without causing sparks. They are effectively "homosexual" words, something that only a gay man can say to another gay man. Is it stupid? Yes, but its human nature, people want to be part of a special cliche. If everyone used words like "*****" and "queer" the cultures that embrace these words would effectively lose their independence and would simply become an insignificant part of the masses. Its like "eh". I love the fact that canadians say "eh" so much, it makes us special as a culture.

bu why is i then that the word cannot be deamed a raist term when a member of that race uses the word, wouldnt the wordhave the same meaning either way? i think that it would. if a southern white guy called another southern white guy a redneck it would have the same meaning as if a black guy calle dhim a redneck. now, obviously redneck is not a rce, but you see my point.

and i would like to point out that you referred to japanese people as "things, " you horrible man you.

depends on who you are. i could really care less if anyone called me redneck regardless of their color, but i know people that would get offended if someone who wasn't white, happened to call them redneck. i think it comes down to the individual people instead of the race as a whole. some people are over sensitive about things, and racism seems to be one of those topics.

in the end...everyone is racist.

btw.....i'm like a few other people that have posted....i don't like the fabric, but i'll give you credit for the labor you did. it looks nicely done

Its a very complicated issue but basically it has to do with who "owns" the word. In an effort to curb racism and prejudism the term "nigg@" has become a black word, thus eliminating its power. Oh and as for the last comment, it was based upon something City said in another thread where he referred to a lip as "jap-like".

well thats all im saying is that since its a personal issue with some people and not a whole race of people, im not much worried about it. im whiter than anyone here but im probably at least as "gangsta" as anyone here. im not gonna explain that, i may get myself in trouble. but still im not gonna not use a word because it offends someone. that would be like not cursing because it offends people, why doesnt anyone get mad about that?

dude i dont know if that comment was directed at what i said or not but if it was you need to keep your mouth shut. mainly because you dont even know me. but closely second is because i dont have time for your 10 year old attitude toward everything that happens on this board. all you do is sit here and "dis" people who think differently than you and if thats all you can do in life then its gonna be a long hard journey pal. dont criticize someone for there differences, just let them be different.

He was talking about City, and I have to say I agree with him. In case you didn't notice, look at Pete's sig, that might explain quite a bit. It should also be noted that this is the internet, and more specifically, someone is posting up about something they did, thus opening the doors to both positive and negative comments.

hey look i was just saying that if you were talking to me i had a problem with that. and all i have seen you do is dis people about the way they build their cars. the key word here is "their" cars. you have absolutely no reason to tell a person that their idea is a bad one or dis them for doing something. at least they are doing something. and think of it this way, if you ever met them in a race or a car show or whatever your favorite aspect of the customizing world is, then you know you will beat them.

and i understand that oyu are an a$$hole, and so am i a lot of the time. but not when it comes to this man. vehicle customization is the one thing i love better than chocolate ice cream and it disturbs me to see people arguing over what is cooler to do. that doesnt make sense. but if you are gonna be an ******* i guess go ahead.
