reupholstering door panels?

wondering if anyone has done this themselves yet. i took one of my door panels off and much to my surprise found out it was all one unit. i ripped off the cloth part and bought some pretty cool white vinyl/leather that i'm putting on in place of it. the only hard part is getting the fabric to wrap around the curves. it would be much easier if i could just pull that piece out.

i'm hoping to get the drivers side door done tonight and i'll have pics asap. so far it's pretty easy and it only costs $12. woot!

UPDATE:

since the door panel is one piece it's almost impossible to get the material stretched to do the rounded corners properly. i think to really do this right you'd have to cut the door panel apart and then glue (?) it back together when you're done. i'll take pics of what i've done. most of it looks good.....but it definitely needs some work.....

i have full vinyl and tweed interior. yes the vinyl can be streched and wrapped around the edges and then tucked in the cracks like the stock fabric was. ill get some pics and post them soon or e-mail them if you want.

i'm not saying it can't be done. it's just a pain in the ***. ....not a project i should have started while sick. inhaling glue fumes no am good for getting healthy.

EDIT: I'd love to see pics.

EDIT2: I'm going to try some different techniques on the passenger door. Maybe it'll work easier if i START on the corner and work my way through the flat parts. in retrospect that makes more sense.

getting the door panel off is easy. getting it back on can be a *****.

carefully pop the top on the plastic cover at the front of the door. unscrew that screw. pop out the cover on the door handle/cubby hole and unscrew that screw. it seems like there's one more but i can't remember where it is. after that, just give it a little force and the plastic pins will pop right out. i started at the front&bottom of the door. it was the easiest place to get my fingers under. after that, just carry the panel around like a big dummy.

i'm going to try again this weekend when I actually have some time but i would LOVE to see other peoples pictures.

...fyi...the rear door panels are about as hard to get off as the front ones are to put on.

maybe it was because it was 12:30 at night and i was standing in mud. LOL

EDIT: to answer the question about taking the panels off...

get one of those tiny flathead screwdrivers. pop off the cover in the door handle and pop the cover in the door cubby. unscrew those two phillips screws. either use a flathead or a pair of needlenose pliers and pop the round caps in the upper front and lower rear of the door panels. unscrew the screws beneath those. at that point i would say grab one of the lower corners of the panel and pull. eventually the clips will start popping out. then it's just a matter of getting the door instrument panel unplugged and getting the panel up off of the top lip. in the light with the proper tools, 5 minutes.

the rears are slightly different. same concept.
