CityKnight is pushed around a lot on this forum and it's a shame. Dude, the only way to prove what you are saying is "DYNO". Do it and then maybe people will start treating you with respect.

I hate to say it, but maybe you did feel a difference, be it ever so slightly. My girlfriend put a performance muffler on her stock exhaust and if I did'nt know better I would swear I felt a difference. Her car is an 05 OZ.

no offense cityknight but it could be a bit of a placebo effect as well. Im sure its a very good exhaust and it possibly could have given you some gains. But without some hardcore numbers behind it from a dyno or an R&D report its REALLY hard to back up. Every guy on here knows exactly how hard it is to squeeze a few ponies out of the 4G94 . . . and saying that one simple 3 foot chunk of pipe (be it wrapped in carbon fiber or not) gave you great gains is DEF gonna ruffle a few feathers. Nice addition to your ride city, just watch out for those ruffled feathers

nice buy tho.. no complains here.. you prolly did gain power, but just a couple of ponnies... i had the real Apex-i N1 and switched to the Greddy Evo, i think its still the same.. sometimes, on N/A engines, all mufflers are the same.. now it depends on the piping and stuff.. peace!

do you just have a 2.5in muffler? or is it hooked up to 2.5in piping, w/ or w/out a cat? any resonators in the piping? Im very skeptical that a muffler would cause such an increase in hp. You sure its not just the sound thats making you think ur cars goin fasteR?

He had a 2.5" inch catback exhaust with a carbon fiber muffler on it. He has now gone and replaced the muffler with another carbon fiber muffler. The only way I could see him getting gains is if in the first install he had an exhaust leak and now he inadvertently solved it.

I'll go along with that.

People don't notice huge gains with a header let alone with a piece of metal. Now if you had replaced a stock muffler than sure maybe, but you replaced a performance with a performance. Also, unless you're retarded, there is a huge difference between seats and a muffler. For one, seats actually require careful research and careful construction since they are a safety item. The worst thing that's going to happen when you buy a cheap muffler is is sounds like crap, buy cheap seats and you die. If you don't understand that, I'm sorry to say it, but you're a ricer.
Hmm, I installed an HKS (which is the subject) and he says Im a Ricer...?
Perhaps Ill buy his eBay muffler off 'em, how much you want for it Amby?
I want the good ****

Oh and btw... Check "your muffler" and the Carbon Ti... It ISNT "just" a straight-through muffler.

Damn... I dont think HKS does any of that on their products...?
I got ripped off I guess

PS:
To let the gases out in a fashionable way?... That would be what the piping's there for, Slick.
The point of a muffler is actually to "muffle" the sound of the exhaust, so we arent all driving around, waking the dead.
Us Tuners however, kicked that idea out the window in exchange for a more fluent expulsion of gases and to realese some back-pressure, in order to gain Horsepower.

Umm... HELLO?
The whole point of this topic, is that I had gotten a new HKS Carbon Ti and have seen and felt results "COMPARED" TO THE ORIGINAL MUFFLER I HAD ON!!!

Way to stay on track Amby

PEOPLE!!!

an eBay Muffler IS NOT a "Performance Muffler"!!!

(Jump outta here for a sec. and check out the EVO Forums, then show me some pics of all the eBay mufflers on their VIII's and IX's )

Its one Big Can with another Little Can welded to the end of it, that most of us have purchased at one time or another, in order to have "something" thats more fluent than the stock peice o' crap, to hold us off until we get some good ****.

If YOU or Amby or anyone else thinks that an HKS, a GReddy, and an APEXi, are the same thing as a "SuperEVOTech1000ZoomZoom Titanium Greddy Style" muffler on eBay for $15.00... Im sorry (no, Im really not tho) but Youre All Ricers. Period.

Lemme know if Home Depot has any discounts on BEHR.
I'll pick some up on the way home, cus since it comes in a steel can, then it must be the same as PPG Radiant.
Ya gotta know where the real deals are, lemme tell ya...

Hmmmm now normally I would be nice, but frankly I'm sick and tired of your ricer boy antics, so here goes.
1. The product you buy is meaningless, it is simply a sign of money. There are plenty of hondas with 2000$ body kits and 10000$ paint jobs, but the fact they are tasteless and the general attitude of the owner makes them a ricer. My ricer comment was in response to you suggesting that since I said all mufflers are the same, I must believe that all seats are the same, despite the fact that that is a stupid and very ignorant statement since there is, as I stated, a vast difference between a piece of pipe and the device that keeps your *** safe in an accident.
2. I don't have an ebay muffler, I have a Greddy exhaust system. Nice try though, I must commend you on your idiotic comment.
3. My muffler is indeed "straight through", so again, nice try.
4. You bought an HKS muffler, your not hot ****, you simply have more money than sense. While I'm sure HKS did a lot of "research" in designing it, it simply cannot be compared to the amount of research necessary to make a good seat. Tell me this, what happens if your muffler fails apart? Now what happens if your seat falls apart?
5. To respond to your second little insight, my statement was on topic as I was basically suggesting how you could have seen a power gain by going from one muffler to another.
Now do you have any more brilliant comments to make or are you done?

$330.00 shipped? Ok, this thread makes me sad, only a dyno would make me smile again.
