Sorry to be the one to say it, but you drive a lancer ES, adding a spoiler won't make it a Rolls Royce. I don't know why people's cars are shaking on the highway, I drive a good 60 km or so a day on the highway and I don't have any stability problems.

same. These arnt chevy aveos. The lancer is quite stable at highway speeds or even a lil faster unless you have an allignment or a balance problem. Evo wing will help at higher speeds but not enouph for a girl to say. "wow, this has a nice comfy ride at high speed."

 

oh i know but it looks better than stock, and who ever said goin 75 km , i drive on it hwy 80 mph(legal in some tx hwy's)

 

OK "hustler"/ricer, a EVO wing on an ES is much more horrid than the stock spoiler or no spoiler and serves no purpose when the engine hasn't been upgraded.
As for your car shaking at high speeds, go get your tires balanced and a realignment.

 

I meant I drive 60 km (as in distance) everyday on the highway, hence why I didn't give any units of time, such as hour. I usually go about 120-140 km/h when I am on the highway, which is equal to 75-90 mph.

 

why dont u just wait on the spoiler and ask ''santa'' for somethin a lil more practial or useful. why does everyone have to be like the evo. havent u noticed lately that the evos are goin w/out a spoiler. i dont know how many times i see the evos(esecially the rediculously fast ones) spoilerless. i'd take mine off but then i'd look like an es and who'd wnat that jkjk. my oz spoiler looks fine but i wouldnt pay extra for it. go w/ somethin else like rims, or suspension, somethin u'll get more enjoyment out of. somethin u'd be proud of and wouldnt be trying to mimic.

Yeah the RS (the pure performance evo) doesn't come with a spoiler. That's a pretty good indication of the necessity of a wing. Also a lot of people take the wing off because of all the attention it brings.

 

if i had an evo, i would want an evo wing, cause its an evo. i like my oz wing cause that shows its an oz, which is what it will always be, and its also the only car,except i think the last generation of mirages that comes with the oz wing and so its unique

 

I totally agree that a wing is far from necessary on most cars. I also agree that wings tend to bring more attention. I just happen to like how the Evo wing flows with the lines of the Lancer and it gives it more dimension at the back of the car. The only other option I could think of was getting a cf trunk but I thought it would be too much. Take into consideration that I did all of the stuff to my car very meticulously and with car shows in mind, so I didn't install a wing just for the hell of it.

I think the cf deck is just enough to go along with the cf hood up front which is a far cry from the overkill that you see most times (read: cf door handles, mirrors, fenders, basically cf for the hell of having it) instead of doing it tastefully.

 

I don't see the use of trying to downplay a spoiler/wing/whatever. What if he is not worried about a turbo, a catback, or even a spark plug.

That's why there are all show people, all go people, and those middle ones who go for both. If he wants a wing even though there is no "use" for one I think he deserves one. Hell, if Mitsubishi or any car company for that fact knows that a spoiler is not going to make you faster than why do they add one? I know why! Because it appeals to more people! Last time I checked when I was looking at Ralliarts there was an option to add an OEM Evo spoiler there. It doesn't make the car faster but will make it look better to most people. I bet if we took a poll right now of do cars in general look better in general with spoilers I bet $20 that most would say yes.

Now that the fact that he is asking Santa for a Spoiler/Wing leads me to belive that he is not an "All go no show" person (Like very few people here(If the shoe fits wear it)) might be a "both" type person but the simple fact is he wants to make his ES look better. He knows without dumping lets say...$5500 into his Lancer he is not going to be running with Evos. I'm sure he knows for new rims and tires thats going to run him about $900 and a body kit is going to be...$750 with no paint?! What's another option that can make his car look a little better and not bone bare stock?

Yes! So what if it does squat?! It makes his car look better At least to the masses. How many people are going to look at his Lancer and go "Ha ha look at that POS with a Ralliart spoiler or Evo spoiler on it" 80% of people don't even look at details such as colored side view mirrors and side skirts and things and go "Ha ha! Thats just a base model! That poseur!" Considering that he has a first gen Lancer Ithink it does the cars shape justice to have a spoiler to counter our odd rear ends. An Evo one does that nicely IMO..

If he mods his car with respect to the "Lancer community" I think he deserves it. (Just don't get the neon or movable one)

Nicely put. I agree. I think the EVO's look amazing with no spoiler because of thw wider stance. Same thing goes with supras/skylines/350z/etc/etc. A Lancer is "thin" compared to an evo and look better with a wing or spoiler. Of course that is my opinion. This kinda thing is a *to each their own* thing.

 

I never said i was going to buy any one of those spoilers (if i do, it would be this one http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/i...smalllowsm.jpg, and thats been my choice sense i started this thing) I was just intersted in seeing peoples opinions. The last one was stupid and ricey, and something to joke about. As for them not being usefull, or effective, of course their not effective.

IM a design major, i dont race, i dont go to car shows, i cant go over the speed limit because i cant afford tickets, and getting to 60 faster than other people (the highest speed limit for 50 miles from where i live) can be acheived by just pushing the gas more than most everyone else, which doesnt cost me 5000$ in mods that wont ever be used to their full potential anyway. If i went to the track, it would be nice, but i dont, so i am all show, because theres no real need for that much "go" in a daily driver.

How many of you have gone (not on the track) over 80 anyway? the one time i took it on a closed strip of desert road i got it up to 115, Bare bone stock, and it was more speed than anyone ever needs on their way to work. (fun though)

in other words, i care more about how it looks because i look at it more than i "perform" with it. You with EVOs and RAs (love them both) still have to obey the speed limit, so you really only get to use your mods on the track, or to...wait... Show (emphasis, show, as into be loook at) off!
