03_Lancer_ES sloooow build
Ok -- Here's the deal
1.) The filter is made by a company called R-Active (see http://www.carxpressions.com/gate/ractive_gate.html) No idea if it's good or not but it works, so hey.
2.) I was having this bizarre vibration in the brake pedal at a stop, when I washed the car today I took a look at the SRI and noticed that one of the screws on the MAF adapter was rubbing the master cylinder part (I think that's what it is
. So I rotated the MAF adapter so it wasn't touching...or near the master cylinder and shazaam it's gone.
3.) Sometimes when I shift into the next gear ie: 1 to 2nd or 3 to 4th etc the engine emits a squeeling like a belt is slipping or something. Why is this? It only happens are lower RPMs. Does it not like my low shift point or something?
Here's the updated pictures. I've since got
Sparco shift knob
Sparco pedals
done a little painting on the interior
Getting warmer and that means I can paint the letters on the trunk, strip the ES and do the headlights (finally). Not really sure if I want to paint more dash, but i'm going to get the flocked dash kit from
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...003&partid=265
to try to rid myself of the damn glare from the dash. Also, i'm going to get a tint strip for the top of the windshield as these bleeding cars have none (or my windshield's been replaced) and i'm going blind.
Anyway...yay~!
Also...that last picture, there's what I assume to be a bumper support thing sticking out underneath there. Unfortunately due to time constraints I could get a look at it, but is that something that's going to go back on or is it broken? It's probably damage from winter driving...

the grey thin hanging down with the hole in it? it just holds the bottom of your bumper, i assume your missing the clip that goes in there, you should be able to get one no problems and put it back up there.
like the shift knob, now you need a short shifter

If that stock cd-player played CD-RWs i'd probably keep it forever. However, since it doesn't, I guess i'll have to get one that matches whatever colour I am going to make the lighting inside. I'm thinking blue since that shift knob has blue on it...
Ok, i'm glad I need only a clip to hold it on, I was looking at the pic and thinking it doesn't look broken. As for the short shifter, I don't know if I want one really, I like the height of this one (although I assume you noted that because of the gap between the knob and the boot) and i'm pretty tall, so I like the ease of reach it gives me.
Here's a question for y'all though...how do you get the plastic panel that covers the window controls off? Does it just snap on?

OK, another update (I did figure out how to get the window controls off, they just pry off carefully, but I did break a rear window control piece
)
Just some more paint work; reflectors (probably won't reflect much now), window controls and change pocket dealie. Sorry the pictures are a bit fuzzy, but the quality suffers to make the 100kb size limit. They are all flat black, even though they look brown-ie in the pics.
Best look is the reflectors, makes a big difference!

Hmmm yeah, those doors will get some work when my dash-flocking kit thingy gets here
Here's the painted letters on the back. Once I get some goof off, i'll get rid of the ES but I used it as my guinea pig for a couple weeks to see how well the stuff sticks...

did you take them off to paint them?
Yes, I did, although they're a little tiny bit rubbed off after I washed it today. Today was designated spring cleaning day, so I did a bit of detail work.
I also was able to clean off the carpet stains from under the gas pedal, as the aftermarket LANCER rubber mats, and the carpet ones now that the stealership finally coughed them up, do not cover that area. Check the before and after. I used a product called Turtle Wax OXY Power Out! Carpet Cleaner. (say that 3 times fast). Worked fantastic.
I'm sure you can tell the difference under the hood if you check back to the SRI pictures in here somewhere, it may look dirty now, but it was a hell of a lot dirtier before...

looks good mate. i'm gonna have a go at painting my rear badges also. Saying as there is ZERO chrome left on my car
engine bay looks good. You REALLY REALLY, need to get some rust remover for those headers. but other than that

that stuff DESTROY'S rust. just spray it, and let it sit for 15-30mins
