damn 2gs

quick question tho..
did you think about two 8s instead of 6.5?

I know with a child (congrats on that) your not thinking about bass but it just seems like 8s there would be the chit.

Totally kidding about the 2gs of course...but I'm sure you knew that.

Yep, I checked the specs on Elemental Design's 8s and 6.5s, and given the space constraint, opted for the 6.5s. I became a member of their car audio forum and asked some "comparison" questions to help decide between the two. Everyone who had used the 6.5s said that I would lose some SPL compared to the 10" that I was using, but that I wouldn't be disappointed. My fear was firing the 8s through the smaller holes in the rear deck...fearing that it would rattle the hell out of it. Don't know if you spotted it, but I opened up the factory 6.5 holes a bit with a dremel to give the subs a more clear shot through the openings. Next, I'll be sound damping both sides of the rear deck like I've never seen sound damping material before. Should be rattle-free when finished.

These 6.5s are no joke either. They have the same "throw" as an average 10", so they should move some air. They honestly make my JL 6W0 that I'm running up front look like a Radio Shack p.o.s. I should know within a month if my initial impression of them is correct. Keeping my fingers crossed.
