Window tint percent?
Window tint percent?
I was calling around town and found out that i can get diffrent percentages of metal in my tint. Whats the best percentage to keep my interior from fadeing and keep the heat out?
i am not talking about the actuall film %...cause i am getting 20% but she said there is a percentage of metal they put into the actual tint...IE...if i drop $150 i can get the all dye tint..but if i spend 230 i can get the 80% metalic. I dont understand which will be better for my interior.
The dye is what changes color of the tint over time. The more metal you have in the tint the less it changes. I am just looking into this myself. You may want to do some googling, here is an example of what you can find:

Yes if you go to my registry, i got the metal tint. The metal tint usually has a lifetime warrenty, and is not suppose to fade, peel, crack or bubble, it looks the same as any old tint but it will stay black/grey forever.

A shop in the Valley - I think it was in Van Nuys or something. A friend referred me to them. It was $145. If I get a ticket for the tint - they will charge $50 to take it off and another $50 to put it back on after I get the ticket signed off.
Quality tint has metal in it instead of dye. It costs more but it can never fade thats why it is quality. As far as I know there is no percentage of metal. 20% light transmittance with dye is the same as 20% with metallic. There is a reflection percentage with metallic though.
