Do it in white, it'd provide nice contrast for the oz's black interior. White matches ANY color, or you can do it silver cuz silver looks nice as well. Doing this yourself isnt so hard, just 5 minutes to remove the peices you wanna paint. Another 5 minutes to remove or mask off the accessories from the peices u wanna paint (i.e. the mirror control is removed, the vents and whole thing in the middle of that long trim is removed...etc.). Lay down some garbage bags or newspaper. Paint away! U gotta paint nice and evenly applying a layer every 15-30 mins. After a sufficient amount of layers, you start putting clearcoats on to protect it. Clearcoat also gives it a high gloss and makes it look nice and shiney. I had so much fun doing this and I am gonna do it again to some more dash peices later on (maybe even today).

One word of advice if you're gonna do this... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH PAINT!!!! I ran outta paint in the middle of applying my layers. I had to drive my poor ripped up Lancer to Autozone and get more paint.

Have fun guys! If anyone in so. cali needs help in painting their dash, ill offer my help for free . If anyone from out of cali wants to come over and have me help them, ill be more than glad to ^_^

did you have to do any prepping of the peices before painting? what was the cost per can and how many did it take to cover what you already painted? how many coats of each color did you do?

hmm nobody seemed to ask about the center heater control/head unit piece, maybe i'm missing something? did you order it from mitsu. or got it off an evo? it doesn't look like its from the stock lancer interior because its smooth.

Lol yeah, it's an Evo AC Trim peice. As for the layers and colors, I used a total of 3 5oz. cans of paint for the 8 layers of silver color and 1 can of clearcoat for the 3 layers of clearcoat on each peice. I didnt do any prepping (which was prolly a mistake on my part). I just ripped the peices off the dash, set down some bags on a table and sprayed away! There are some slight blemishes to it, but hey... im no professional

Yeah Karlen, ill keep the radio down *Insert Angel Smiley here* *Angel smiley grows devil horns*

Looks nice from far away and in pictures, but as we know pictures decieve. I ripped up the dash again and i am sanding down some blemishes and re-painting it... it's so damn hard to sand through 3 clearcoat layers!

P.S. Any of those computer experts who wanna use additional smileys, go to other forums and link their smileys using the [img] tag.

When it comes to paint fumes there's no such thing as too high, Kareem.

Seriously, looks great. Subtle but extremely clean and different enough to look sharp.

Think I'll have to buy myself a few cans of duplicolor as well. I really like their blue.

Lol, thx for the comments guys. Those of u in SCLC who are coming to the meet tomorrow will be able to see it in person. Just buy a gas mask cuz my car smells like paint after the first time i put the dash stuff in.

Ill be charging $5 per hour to sit in my car and get high off the paint fumes, I will provide some "out of body experience" music as well
