Spraypainting bulbs

I read one of your registrys and it said you used testor model car spray paint to paint your bulbs silver. i just did one of my side markers and it looks great. blends in with the reflector, yet still flashes amber.

Who was it that did this already and do the bulbs still work? or did it harm them in any way? and how long have you had them like this?

sounds like a great idea. Not sure who did it... but can you post pics?

sorry, the last pic is blurry, cause i turned the flash off so you could see it, but you get the point that it still flashes amber.

nice mod, for cheap

It flashes amber, but loses tons of the output intensity... then again its cheaper than going and buying the bulbs like that...

I did my rear and front turn signal lights in silver paint and its really hard to see them durning the day now. I'm taking off the paint in the rear and getting hyper white bulbs in front. Its just too unsafe with those bulbs.

ya, it does lose a lot of intensity. zapco, are yours hard to see also? maybe if i just do a very light coat on it.

i'm also worried about doing the front sides, becuase those stay on while the headlights are on, and i dont want them burning up or anything.

I thought the same, so I'm planning on just getting hyper whites for those too.
