Taking off badges?

Has anyone taken off the badges on the trunk (the mitsubishi sysmbol and the Lancer leters)? What steps did you take to prevent the paint from getting scratched or chipped?

Take a blowdryer to the letters or symbol to loosen the glue a bit, then take dental floss and pull it under the letters to get them off. If there is any glue left behind just get some cleaning stuff like 'Goo Gone' or something like that to get it off.

Next time use the search command first. Anyway - heat gun, dental floss, goo-gone, and rubbing compound.

An idea for you, this is what I'm doing. Leave the Mitsu symbol but take off the big LANCER letters, go to the dealership, buy small Lancer eblem and put on bottom corner of trunk.

Thats a pretty good idea. I was also thinking about leaving the mitsubishi symbol as it is. Is the "OZ Rally Edition" just as easy to take off as the others?

Yeah, the OZ Badge is really just a sticker. I used a box cutter and very carefully grabbed the edge of the sticker with the blade, and it peeled right off. Be careful taking off the LANCER badge, I made some mistakes taking mine off and now my trunk has some minor scratching around the old LANCER letters. I'm going to have a body shop buff it out though when I get my fender fixed.

I used the same thing, blow dryer, dental floss, and then tar/bug remover to get the left over **** off. Getting the left over tape/glue off was the hardest part and took some rubbing. My car is black and I had it for 2 months before I took the ES off and I had absolutely no fading or anything.

good luck!

i seriously had the harest time taking that tape stuff off. I had to rub and rub then soak it some more with the Bug and Tar Remover. It took like an hour and a half.

Be sure to wash and wax the trunk after. Use a good wax, if not you may see the Lancer Outline.

dont even need that. in this order.

Wash
Goo Gone (spray it above the ebmlem to loosen the pressure)
Dental Floss (get it under a corner and then floss it off)
Goo Gone (spray on the resdue, spray on cloth and rubb it off, this may take a little "elbow greese")
Wash Again
Wax

WD-40 works even better than tha goo gone in my opinion. Its so hot out here in AZ that i didnt even need a blow dryer. just peeled tha badges right off, then let some WD-40 soak in tha sticky stuff for a few minutes. Everything came off with just a lil rubbing. peace

Question....

I've had my car since February. I am not planning on taking my "Lancer" emblem off til next summer cause i wanna do it once I get rims on and lower it and ****. By October its probably gonna snow here so rims are out of the question. I was wondering, if I waited til next summer, when I take my emblems off, will there be a shadow or n e thing like that b/c my paint could have faded a bit over those months?? Jus to let u guys know, I also park outside.

THNX
