Question will this work?

i'm lookin at some 18x7.5 4x100 rims for my lancer es (so yes, i did my research and es is 4x100 =P) and i was wondering if +42mm offset and a 1.7" drop (that's all you can get for es) would work without rubbing. and if so, what size tire should i go with? i was thinkin 215/35, but i don't wanna go out on a whim when i don't know anything about this to begin with... i've tried finding a clear answer to this question on the forums (for the last 45 min actually), but it seems like the best way to get a clear response on this topic is to just ask the question yourself. thanks a bunch guys, all of you usually have somethin good to say

cheers, tyrone

oh, and if u were wondering, i'm lookin at some gold tenzo poke-10 rims (18", obviously). i've been lookin at quite a few cars, and i think gold looks phatty on white... to each his own, rite?

on a civic w/ a wbc

straight up tenzo promo

btw: i moved this thread cause it was in the wrong forum.. it wouldn't let me delete it, so i guess just don't post in the other one =P.

I agree with you, those rims look pretty sweet on a white car. I'm pretty sure, however, that you will rub with that setup. You would probably be a little safer with a more agressive offset (40 or lower), moving to a 17x7.5 rim, or an 18x7 rim. I'm not entirely sure, but I think you are pushing the limits with 18x7.5.

since you car is lowered and you are looking for a wider and bigger wheel, you may have some rubbing.

I don't have rubbing on my 7.5x18. I'm not dropped yet however. even after dropping, I think it will still be fine. I have 215/35

you will rub, and you'll rub with 18x7's even.

I have 18x7's with Tein coil-overs lowered all the way and have no rubbing.

Some of the people without 18's know people with 18's who haven't responded and whose tires rub.

There seems to be a lot of inconsistency in our suspensions from car to car.

i took a look at a few cars, and it seems like if u do it right, there are no rubbing problems. it took a bit of checking around, but i'm thinking that h&r springs will fit the es and give a 1.4" front drop, and a 1.3" rear drop. user kontradictions dropped his car (w/ 18"s) using intrax springs which give a 1.5" front drop, and a 1.4" rear drop. from what i could find, he's rollin on volk racing 18x7.5 (+38mm) and hasn't rubbed all the much. The people that rub probably dropped too far or don't have tires that are low profile enough. i'm looking to go with 215/35/18, so i don't really see where the rubbing issues would heavily come into play.
strange that i just sorta answered my own question... haha.
when i have the cash (i'm helpin my girl buy a car rite now) i'll go out on a whim and experiment with it. if it works, i'll give a once and for all answer of what will and what won't work on the us lancer.

oh, one last question, which is going to sound devilishly newbish, but what exactly does the offset of a rim do? i've just been kinda goin along with "oh, 38-45 will probably work on a lancer," but i don't wanna get jacked by having everything perfect except offset. looks to me that +42mm offset would be just about in the middle of the range i keep seeing

haha, alright... time to do some homework. hit me up with some responses. peeshh
