Maximum wattage?

Does anyone know first hand or have any recommendations as to the safest maximum wattage and color temp for a headlight bulb to be used in my 02 O-Z Rally? I don't want anything that will burn out my wires or cause any other damage. Thanks in advance!

you shouldnt use any headlamp bulb other than HB4 (9007). unless its a HID kit or something with its own wiring harness.

EDIT: i read your post again and decided that i dont know what you are talking about. if my post still applies, good; if not... oh well, tomorrow's another day. im certainly not going to lose sleep over it.

umm...you can only physically stick in the 9007 bulb unless you've made some funky mod to accomodate other bulbs...as for wattage, i wouldn't go with anything more than 110 - 130. as for color temp. if you are not using HID, the color temp wouldn't matter because cheap $20 bulbs have the glass painted to SIMULATE the color temp such as 5000K or 4500K. but that really doesn;t affect your wiring, such as melting them.

I'd stick with the stock wattage, which I think is 55/65 or something. Check your owner's manual it's got it in there. The higher above the stock wattage you go the more chance of burning up the wiring harness, so be careful.

By the way I had some bulbs that were over 100 wattage and then got some with same wattage as stock and they looked identical to me. No advantage to higher wattage really.

I've been running 80/85 4000K purple plasma ones for like a month with no problems so far. 80 watts gets pretty hot but it isnt melting anything, it is burning a hole in everyone elses retina's I get a lot of brights flicked at me.
