tinted depo tails...

I love my depo tails but the seam of glue or what not is painfully obvious around the edges. Separating a black car and the black housings, it looks even worse

So I wanted to cover this a bit. I started by taping off what I didn't want painted (yes I took it off of the car for this)

Don't ask me why I came up with that exact design, just thought it looked good. Next I painted it with about 5 coats of tint spray, which seemed safer than actual paint. They only recommend you use 3 but its not covering anything important so I wanted it very dark.

And I think they turned out great. There's a couple of blemishes on one of the tails where the tape didn't stay down completely, but I think it'll be easily fixed.

What do you guys think? I'll get some better pictures than these crap cell phone pics if you'd like.

Yea I'd hoped it would have turned out darker. With the tape on it looked a whole lot darker but that's because the tape was blocking any light from getting in

I was actually thinking about it but the last time I tried to use clear coat it was a disaster. When I painted my old grill it looked real grainy, just didn't turn out at all. Would you suggest trying anyway? could I spray the whole light with a clear coat or would I have to tape it off again?

i'm not sure how well a clear coat would stick to unpainted plastic so maybe just tape it off again? but without a clear coat the paint will start to fade quick

I was thinking of tinting the entire tail and using clear coat, any feedback?

^That should look good, but be careful, it may be illegal to paint the whole thing

Thanks for the positive remarks guys
