Hi,other than paint chips, has any one found rusting on the 08-09 lancer?

I have done paint protection and rust proofing from dealer.Will paint protection help against this paint chipping or not?

Do you mean that extra "Clear Protection Coat" they put on the car before you drive it off the lot?

 

damn! sad to hear about the 09's having problems with paint! i thought they would have this issue fixed by now being that the 04-06 lancers had paint problems

 

Oh yea it definitely sucks. I have chips appearing where I thought I wouldn't see them. Oh well, guess that's what touch up paint is for.

 

I also have some paint chipping on my car. I say some because I have 3m clear bra and Rally Armor mud flaps on my car.

The paint chipping area is right on the edge where my 3m bra didn't cover.

this has been a problem from the lancer / evo since they were brought to the us. look at all the evo 7 wings, the brake calipers, the paint sucks.

 

seems that paint on cars has been getting worse in quality lately. I too have lots of chips, especially on my hood on my 06 ralliart. It's also fading. Talked to the dealer about it, he says its normal use. Bah.

It's probably those easy on the environment paints. Or not enough coats. Or something.

 

Yep I got that too and I still have some scratches. Not as bad as some of the other pics from people on here with thousands of spots around their fenders, but it still does chip just seems to chip less. Sucks but oh well.

 

maybe you've just owned Mitsubishi all your life but no other car I've owned in the past had paint chips like that. Yes cars get paint chips but when your car is barely 2 years old and it already shows signs of needing a paint job then something is not right. These new lancers have one coat of paint on them.

 

Why owner of new Mitsubishi are not taking this seriously and if they are why its not discussed all over internet?When I search google I found three forums regarding this issue(our included) and other complain regarding Mitsubishi eclipse older model.

Is Mitsubishi taking care of it when it start to chip and repaint it for free?

We all should sign petition and let mitsubishi know of this problem.So may be they will recall and give us nicer paint with 2-3 coats.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I would actually take time and go into each and every forum and post a petition for people to sign. Heck those poor EVO owners that paid some good coin for their cars should be making this a bigger issue.

The site you have posted is basically dedicated to 2000 to 2005 Mitsubishi with Black color and only for US.I havent found any mentioning of our 2008-09 model car especially Lancer GTS on that site.

They also have iPetition - Mitsubishi Defected Paint Petition but for only 2000-05 Mitsubishi with Black color.
