Has anyone purchased the RRM bumper cap? I just received mine in the mail and installed it. The fitment seems tight. Right now it is held by the two sided tape the RRM provided, but I am worried that it is going to pop off while driving, which would really suck. The bottom corners of the cap have about a 3cm gap which means that the tape is not touching the bumper. I think the other tape is touching the bumper though, so would you consider that secured? I would rather bolt it down, but there isn’t enough slack at the top for me to add screws without making them visible.

I also bought the CF exhaust shield and that fitment is even tighter. I haven’t taped that one on, but that seems like it’s going to pop off for sure.

I was just wondering if anyone else has purchased any RRM parts that were very tight and is paranoid about them popping off.

 

Did you use some rubbing alchol to clean the surface before mounting? 3M is great but if you have a wet/dirty surface it will come loose over time.

I would suggest you go get some double sided car mounting tape (Dark grey colour) and use that aswell.

 

I washed the bumper with car wash soap then dried it. Does that count? I know that RRM gave the good 3M tape... it was dark grey also, and I've seen a lot of people use that tape. The reason why I am so worried is because I used the 3M tape on my Vortex Generator on my old lancer, and that thing didn't even last for an hour. Maybe because I didn't give it enough time before going on the HWY? Anyways, It was a bad exp because that thing created a nice V shape. Luckly it didn't fly off because the antenna was holding it in.

I don't want to pull it off, because aside from the corners, it "seems" solid. What I've decided to do is go pick up some Gorilla super glue and squeeze it into the holes. Maybe I'll try to wedge it under any cracks to get a really strong hold which will hopefully help out. That cap costed more than my ebay vortex thingy... about 5 times more, so I rather not have that destroied or lost.

On a positive note, it does look great aside from the top two corners not covering properly, but I assume that the CF grill, what is supposed to be arriving shortly, will remedy that.

I can post on Monday. As for the bumper cap, I emailed RRM and they told me what I did wrong. I am an idiot. they gave me rivets, and me being an idiot, I didn't know what they were so I didn't use them. I've installed the rivets, but now because of the person that I am, I think I placed them in the wrong area, so now it looks kind of odd. Anyways, I'll post pics on Monday and you guys can tell me if I've screwed everything up.

 

Heres a pic of the car with the bumper cap. It doesn't look that good without the RRM grill, but still better than stock, so hopefully that comes in soon.

 

Nice, little small though lol. I love the side mount license plate but Florida doesn't require one so it would be dumb for me to get one, but would look awesome
