alright well the verdict...

to keep the car with the salvage title.. the insurance is gonna pay me 6100

or

i could give the car in, and they would pay me 6400, i would be able to take parts off as long as it stays the same as stock and it doesnt devalue the car.

im getting a guy i know to come look at the engine and see how much it would cost to fix it...

i guess its either
1take the money they give me to fix the car
2keep salvage title, get a new car with the money and sell the car as is for more
3turn in the car to them and keep the parts i can.. plus the 6k

maybe i could hear ur guys opinions

keep car and get 6100.. you could part it out/ sell it for more then $300 netting you more then the 6400 they offer and giving the car in.

does the car start?

for $6100 you can practically rebuild the entire engine and front end

Keep the car. fix it. Save the turbo, save everything, build it better. Intercooled, new clutch, etc

The damage to the car is well below $6100 if you do some of the work yourself. As far as the engine goes there doesnt look like theres really that much damage save from some smoke stains and melted wires

its pretty naive of you to just assume the damage is well below $6100. Obviously the insurance company had an adjuster have a look at the car. They dont just pull numbers out of a magical hat.

There may be, there may be not, we have no idea just by looking at a few pics so smarten up.

right now from what he's said its plane and simple there offering you $300 for the car if you turn it in. If you feel its worth more then $300 keep it and do what you wish, if not send it in.

judging by the looks of things you might need

new engine wiring harness
misc hoses
throttle cable
hood
maybe axles if your boots are melted

just to name a quick few...

ps. if you need a oem hood I have one in yellow

if the motors trashe.d and 100% sure its not. your talkin only about 400$ max to replace it.(if u do it yourself, or have friends help). wireing harness u can strip from a salvage company for under 100. and your turbod. so u could just upgrade any turbo parts that are damaged. u would be a fool not to keep the vehicle.

ill buy your car for that 300$. and u can have all the the turbo and aftermarket parts! so u get the 6400 and all your parts!

This. Its really not that expensive to completely replace the entire lancer's engine bay. 90% of parts for our car can be pulled from junkers. theres 1000s of wrecked lancers out there. $6100 is A LOT of money to put into a car, so thats why i said its most likely well below that. Unless you're replacing with brand new factory parts and having the dealership do the installation. Even then its probably still under.

Looks good! If you're competant in the least with wiring you should be able to replace the damaged wiring. Pull the valve cover off and take a look at the head/under the valvecover and check for any damage. Chances areyou'll just have to replace or clean up if the underside of the valve cover looks intact and it protected the head. I'm sure the block is fine since that thing takes just as much if not more heat during normal operation. Just replace the damaged hoses and go over everything with a hawk eye. I'm sure the damage is 90% cosmetic. Get that bad boy running, then apply for a rebuilt title!.

if u need any help or suggestions. just shoot me a pm.. if u lived closer id gladly lend a hand since it wasn't your negligence that caused the damages.

(i dont suggest cut/splicing wires for the harness.. your better off yankin it all and findin a good one from a junk yard)

what i did is.. they said i could go and get my personal belongings... and that is what i did.

i went in. went to the lady for my key. went around back to my car and started ripping everything off! except the suspension.. couldnt do that. but i took everything else. later that day the insurance lady tells me that couldnt be able to get my "mods"... te he he.. little did they know i had already done so.

i stole from myself basically.

got away with it

only reason they say u cant take the mods is because they need the parts to justify what there paying for. (like if u have aftermarket seats, u can just give them the car without seats!) but anything u rip off.. if its an aftermarket part, and doesnt effectly destroy the cars value is yours.. thats why u should keep your OEM parts..

insurance companies also offer aftermarket options for car insureance to be added the the value of the car.. so if u wreck a car with a 10k stereo system.. they will effectly pay for that ontop of the cars cost.. and also.. if u have any receipts of aftermarket parts, u can actually hand them over to the insurance company and tell them that it was all in the car and was effectly destroyed.. theres actualy alot of way around the aftermarket stuff.. but doing it and getting away with it is all about how you approach it..

if u have your oem parts.. technically u can rip EVERYTHING off thats aftermarket, even suspension stuff.. and just put all the stock parts all back into the car(like in the trunk) and say have a good day, because they are all your personal belongings! lol. but insurance adjusters just like to complain because there the bottom of the food chain and do everything they can to screw you so that they dont get in trouble for not screwing as hard as they could have.

thats why i say, if u wreck, have your car tow'd to YOUR house.. not a body shop. if u think it might be totaled.. start taking stuff off and putting oem parts back on.. insurance company will normally take a few days, if not weeks, before they will even get it from your house.
