Sorry, but I can picture a guy flipping out at his keyboard.

Totally right though. Wax & paint = soft. Metal = hard. When working around painted stuff always use the softest item possible that will still get the job done. Rewaxing can save you potential damage and uneven discoloration down the line as well. The paint looks hard and feels hard, but it's pretty soft and easily scratched. Save yourself the frustration of future buffing and use the gentlest tools (not like a rubber mallot, ya lugs )possible.

Bah! People are still yelling at me for using a screwdriver to remove my dealer badge!? Truth is, if you're careful, you can pry it off no problem without marking up the paint or tearing it off. You can be done in twenty seconds instead of half an hour. Granted, if you have parikinson's, or half blind, or have lobster claws instead of hands, I don't recommend this. Sometimes, people can get overly technical on a very minor job. Now for the factory badging, ABSOLUTELY do that the slow and cautious way with heat and fishing line and what not. But for the dealer badge, I decided to be a man and rip it off with by bare hands, and had absolutely no problems. None.

ok......the best way is you take fishing string and rap it around once and you jus pull the 2 ends of the string opposite directions and it popps the thing off

Don't sweat it. You got it done. I just don't think it's good advice to give other people who might screw it up and then get pissed about it or just put a nasty scratch of 3 dozen in their paint. I'm sure people will take whatever tips they want to and not think too much about the others anyway. It may be more time consuming, but I think heat and fishing line or floss is the way to be. ...and I think BlackThorN's still right about the waxing thing.

EDIT: Ralliart I'm pretty sure the OZ badge is still the same case as anything else. If any new badges don't come with tape on them then 3M makes some reeeaaally sticky stuff that'd be perfect.

removing the OZ badging was easy. heres my advice. wait for a nice hot day, leave you car in the sun for a good 2 hours, then take a nice thin credit card, ID card or any card of your liking, wedge it in underneath the decal and slowly push the card under until the badge comes off. as you can see, the hot sun makes the adhesive hot/gummy which makes it come off like butter. make sure you do it slowly or you might even take off some paint. when you finish, besure to go back and remove the left over adhesive with Goo Gone followed by a good wax and polish.

you can also use dental floss with the hari dryer, then when all goo is off wax it or else you will still be able to read the lancer in the paint.

i just did it today and hehe.... :: creams pants ::
I pretty much used:

Hair Dryer for like a few seconds on each letter, as I or a friend uses the dental floss (wax/mint flavored is YOUR CHOICE ) slooooowly "sawing" behind the letters to do it as clean as possible.

To make the GOO' (aka the glue) come off of the trunk easier, is RE-HEAT the places where the letters are/were to make the goo a bit softer... THEN use some of that amazing... WONDERFUL... your best friend in this matter.... GOO OFF!!! (it's all the rave lol) and dab it on a paper towel, or your choice of RAG and dab the goo (don't have to do it hard... that's up to you) and let the goo off sit on it a bit so it'll def. sink in, and rub the ****ERS OFF!!!

Once you're done with that, and see the outlines still (yeah i'm like 2 letters away from having it completely debadged, it's just the glue that's left.. minor **** tho) use windex on it and rub it a bit... (that's just step 1 - 2 of takin care of the outlines) then haul *** to your nearest car wash (that you trust ofcourse) and clean that beautiful Lancer of yours, :: humps own lancer ::

i'm sorry, i just love my car THAT much lol
it'll have my babies, I SWEAR! and about the mitsu. emblem, i'm gonna take it off and possibly move it elsewhere on mah car... lol
I MIGHT take off the OZ badge on it... but then again, it's just part of the look , what do you guys think? i may just move it as well...

I MIGHT do something with the L A N C E R letters, like maybe putting it on the front right-corner bumper... kinda like making something NOT ALOT OF PPL HAVE DONE (i think it'd look purdy, if not, i'll just remove it again haha)
I might be able to take pix and let y'all see how it looks and maybe you guys have some suggestions to what i should do next

ROCK!!! lol

this is what i used/did.. i used a screw driver to take out the OZ Rally... kinda scratched it though but touch up paint fixed that problem. then i used a metal wire to pull the letters out and this is what i used ... MY SISTER'S NAIL POSLISH REMOVER!! i was desperate b/c i took out my letters and all was left was the left over glue, tape... thank got i still remember stuff from chemistry. nail polish remover takes it off faster. took me about 5 mins

For the wax at the end of it all...regular car wax will do the trick I'm assuming?
Turtle Wax or whatnot? Stupid question maybe but I'm **** and like to know absolutely everything before I start a "project".

You shouldn't have to wax yours.. They come right off on new vehicles.. I debadged my 08 and it came right off. a little reside left behind, but i just rubbed it off and wiped it down and it looked like it was never there
