What is a Good Exhaust?

I'm actually looking for an exhaust that isn't loud like the civics I see every 2 blocks in the city but still has a bit of performance use. Or of any of you know of a good performance exhaust that would be good too.

I heard a Magniflow cat-back on a stock lancer and it sounded very good. I would definately reccomend it.

I had the Magnaflow pre Turbo... It sounded nice and deep..However, the more mods you get like header and intake manifold the louder and fartier it sounds, so beware. the exhaust note changes as mods change.

I agree with mcbrown. Until you get a header, pretty much all the exhausts will sound the same. I've heard the RMR axleback, Greddy catback, DC catback, custom mufflers, and custom catbacks and they all sound pretty much the same to me. Of the group, the Greddy and DC sounded the quietest, while a 2.5" muffler welded onto the stock piping produced the deepest tone.

Again, this is all with the stock exhaust manifold. Once you get a header, things start getting LOUD and for the most part will get high-pitched. A testpipe increases volume and pitch a little bit as well.

A good exhaust is one that produces the most power with the least amount of noise possible.

I have the Magnaflow Cat-Back Exhaust System Wide Open and it sounds awesome. Very nice and I'd recommend it. Also heard GReddy is good. My friend has the GReddy Evo on his IS300 and it sounds awesome. Either Magnaflow or GReddy.
