You cannot just change a light bulb and get true HID ! the only true HID lights are those on high end cars like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi etc.. they use a high power transformer to power a flash bulb(thats where the bluish tint comes from !) and costs like $3500-$5000.

A decent REAL HID kit costs in the neighborhood of $400-800 (higher priced ones might have high beams built in).

The bulbs that you buy from PIAAA, Eurolite are not HID ! they are simply blue tinted halogen or Xenon bulbs and thats why they are illegal since the tint on them makes them actually darker then the stock DOT approved bulbs and you become a traffic hazard in the rain, snow and the dark(you won't see any visible light in these conditions) and thats why the cops will give you a ticket. Inorder for these companies to pass DOT standards, they made the bulb filiment thinner inorder to increase wattage on the bulbs to produce the same amount of light as the stock bulbs, but in doing so the bulbs will burn out easily if they hit a bump or when they receive some shock. So the moral of the story is the stock bulbs are the best, either plain halogen or Xenon without the blue tints.

"stock bulbs are the best"
.. good one
in no way, shape, or form, does the HID setup w/bulbs (even high beams) cost 3500-5000...
...unless your talking about the entire head light housing, the wiring, every single bulb, and the wiring that goes all the way into the car, and possibly the tail lights, and maybe some engine parts
