suspension question

I used Progress springs to lower my car and the car is making all kinds of noises. I mixed up the strut assemblies. Is their a certain way that they have to go in, ex. left and right, facing inward or outward.

first off, are all the springs making noise? . .. secondly, if you are hearing like a rattle sound (or something that sounds loose), most likely the spring is upside down . . .

Struts are definitely directional in every sense of the word. The spring could be sitting wrong, the shock body itself may be moving and twisting if the fitment is off, brake calipers could be moving since they're mounted to the assembly and then the spring could also be settling in to. Not the best predicament.

Off a hard launch the car is keeling back then moving forward...i guess, does it happen on both the compression and rebound strokes? Front and back? Can't imagine this happening but did you put the rears in front and vice versa? In the end, none of this may be very helpful though and you may just want to take it to a garage. Probably doing quite a number if something isn't facing the way it should.

at first, the left rear was making noise, that was the only one. we switched them around and now both rears are making noise. when you bring the car off the lift do you have to line up everything before putting weight on the springs and struts? they are making a clicking sound under acceleration and deceleration also. ive never seen this before.

how can you tell if the springs are upside down or not, i put them in the best way they fit( at least it looked like the best way), i get the clickicking noises as the shock starts to expand.

Probably best to ask the guys who've actually done a spring install but lining things up is definitely a good thing. Definitely consult the spring installation guide.

i used the spring installation guide from RRM and it explained everything perfectly. looking at the spring itself it is hard to tell, the only thing that was diffrent was that on one side of the progress spring it said front. I guess im wondering if that sticker goes on top or bottom. Any ideas?

Whoooa...top/bottom orientation is wrong? You should have the tight coils on top and the wider ones on bottom. That'll definitely cause a problem.

ok well my problem is that i lost track of which one went where. i don't have them upside down. you can tell easily by just looking at it. see the two front ones can go on either on the left or the right. there are two possibilities.

the two rear ones can go either on the left or the right and you can also turn each one to face inward or outward without being able to tell which is correct. thats four possibilites.
