progress spring noise solved
after countless hours/days of adjusting, taking apart and putting my springs together and still having a rattle in my front end, i was about to pull all my hair out. then while taking a closer look at the springs i noticed that there were wear marks where the springs were touching themselves. to see if it was the actual spring that was making the noise i wrapped the ends (top and bottom) with the wear marks with an old innertube and some zip ties. i have had no noise come from the front. then without making any adjustments to the shock i took the innertube off. it then sounded like crap, i heard a knocking noise on every bump....put the tube back on and once again silence. a more permanate soution will be a rubber tube that will fit perfectly over the spring. but for now the innertube works like a charm. also,i have tried many variations to trimming the bumpstop in the front, i trimmed it halfway and found that my 17inch rims rubbed. so i bought some new ones and trimmed only 1/4th of it off. the perfect ride and the dust bood still fits on. just take the plastic black ring off and trim it there....good luck and if you try the tube let me know if it helps you like it did me.

Here's my $.02. You are going to get some noise with the Progress springs. When you installed them you probably noticed you did not need a spring compressor. This would tell you that at full downward travel there is going to be a gap where the spring has reached its maximum travel. This is going to create some noise when you hit a bump and the spring travels to its max limit. I think stiffer struts would help alleviate this.
When mine were first installed they were very noisy. Now unless I hit a good size bump (Roads in Minnesota suck with all the ice and salt) They are perfectly quiet. As the springs settle into the perches (you probably also noticed they are larger in diameter at the base than the stock) the noises will decrease.

Often springs that are installed upside down make noise. May need to flip them over(fronts only.)

that was one of the many things i tried. when i did flip them over it sounded like everything under my hood was about to fall off. so i flipped them back again and ony heard noises on big bumps

I didn't want to buy an inner tube just to rip it up so I emailed Progress and they said the noise was OK and offered to send some "insulating material". I just got it and will install it tomorrow.

mm...I'm going to try it some day, maybe in Yellow
yeah i've been having problems with my back springs to0o... it like makes a big "CLANK CLANK" noise when i hit a big bump or a hill.. i think its so bad that my shocks are blown .. first can anyone tell where i went wrong..?? second...where can i get new aftermarket shocks?? ( i know about RMR already) :
I don't know if that 3M tape idea would work. On mine, the paint was wearing off where the springs were hitting eachother and I think that if it hits that hard that the tape would get worn through as well. That stuff from Progress is some hard plastic **** that seems to work pretty well so far.
damn you progress . . . i emailed them a week ago about the rattling and if i could get some of that insulating material. . . but still i've heard nothing from them . . .? i guess im gonna have to come up with something myself.
you think that progress would have made sure that their product wouldn't do this . . . stupid . . . i do like the way the car handles and looks with the springs on, but those noises drive me crazy . . im about to get the eibach's even though i prob won't find anybody to buy my progress springs - guess ill just have to absorb the $$$ i paid for them and install . . . im gonna try to do some insulating this weekend on them and if that doesn't work, im gonna get new springs . ..
