Broken Wheel Stud

Hey guys...in the midst of my recent broken sway bar end links somehow all the excess vibration made my passenger side tire loose which in turn caused me too lose on of my wheel nuts and then jam another one.

In conclusion, I had to break off the stud in order to remove the wheel nut, how do I remove the broken wheel stud? I already bought new studs from the dealership.

thanks guys

hit it w/ a hammer till it pops out.. what you put the new one in MAKE SURE you use a steel wheel to tighten it on. the force it takes to pull the new stud threw can hurt an alloy wheel very easily. then once its on, for for a short ride, and tighted it again.

do you need to take off the rotor also or will just the wheel off being enough?

can't i just tighten it down with just the rotor on?

thanks for the reply man

I wouldn't do it directly against the rotor, being a cast part it could break easily, since steelies are pressed, they will resist that type of force much better (use your spare)

take the rotor off, hammer out the old stud, slide in the new stud, take like 5 washers and put in on the new stud than a lug nut, blast it on with an impact gun until it is fully seated.

even a battery impact will do it, but an electric one is less expensive and mo power. unless you need air, electric is easy.

110 volt is more power than battery impact. it takes a pretty good sized compressor to run an impact wrench.
If you don't need air for something else, like tires, inflate air mats... electric is the way to go.
