Thumbs down NEX Coilover Brakeline Setup

I installed the front NEX coilovers about 2 months ago... I don't know how everyone zip tied their brake flexhose up so nicely... cuz just 3-4 weeks ago I found out what it meant to lose all brake pressure. My flexhose was rubbing against my tires and it finally ate right through the hose. I went right through a 4 way stop sign - THANK GOD NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME....

After calling up EVERY MITSBISHI IN ONTARIO ......I realised these asswipes didn't have ONE flex hose in stock... 3 DAY SPECIAL ORDER FROM THE STATES... 50 bux each.

I called up roadrace after every other option exhausted and had them deliver me steel braided lines to me overnight....

My question is... why the hell couldn't NEX engineer something like TIEN or KSPORT? Isn't the brake flexhose a SAFETY HAZARD zip tied like that?

DID ANYONE ELSE ENGINEER SOME BRACKETS THEY"D LIKE TO SELL ME? I Don't want my steel braided lines to eat away at my tire or something.....

I think it is bad engineering for them to not have a built in solution, but I think since they didn't it is your responsability to secure the lines....

Moved, and it's a you get what you pay for kind of thing. They're very inexpesive coilovers, so it's bound to be missing some features. In the future, when replacing struts/coilovers, you always want to make sure your brake lines are secure and out of harm's way.

yeah, when i did my TEINs i had to pull the clips that hold the brake lines in place off of the stock struts and put them on the new ones. my friend adam called them "jesus clips" for the "jesus why won't these come off?" you'd utter when trying to pull them off.

I have had the NEX setup for about 5 months now and I think it is an amazing setup for the cheap price. There is a reason why the TEIN setup is much more expensive because it had a lot more research and engineering put into their product development. Regardless I just can't believe you drove for 2 months with the lines rubbing, mine rubbedd for 2 hours before I fixed the problem and there was a lot of wear in the lines for just 2 hours of driving. As long as you don;t kink the lines there is no problem with zip ties. Good luck . . .

I do remember there being a bracket somehow attached to the strut on the OEM housings. Are they welded on or able to be rigged into, say, the NEX coilover set?

I posted pictures when I Installed these ginnie pig style for everyone to see. The NEX setup you will want to use some thick zip ties (metal if you can find em) and use the brackets they send. There should be two black plastic peices that you can use to clamp down on the break line. You do not have to clamp down too much. One of the black peices has a slit for the zip tie to fit through. Just zip tie that around the black (threaded) part of your coil over setup, and you will be golden.

I will be buying the GT coil overs next month! Expect a new review, and a new day at the track!

GT setup has damper adjustment.
