Oops nevermind I paid 700$ too. Everything's just sorta blurred into one massive purchase so I tend to forget what I paid for things.

For the price of rims and tires you could get a good suspension set up which will make your car handle and look better.

I ordered them through these guys. http://www.jlbmotorsports.com/suspen...port-list.html

They are $700 shipped directly from Ksport. I dont think they carried lancer coilovers in stock.
Thank you good sir.

Suspension first then wheels/tires. That is the way I went and I couldn't be happier not to mention I can't afford new wheel/tires right now and I couldn't deal with any kind of hideous wheel gap. You could always change your tires to a 205/55-15.

So much advice, so little listening.

If the kid wants rims, let him get rims. You guys don't even know if he's building a show car or a racecar. From the tone of his answers, it doesn't sound like he's building a road racer.

First lesson from all this should be "it's OK to ask for advice on the Internet, just don't believe all of what you read."

If you want springs/suspension, why do you want it? What are you looking to change on the car?
Same question for the rims. Are you going to get big, ricey 17s or a set of lightweight wheels?

You have to tell us what you want before we can steer you.

Definately not for racing.

When im talking about suspension i just want it to be a little lower to the ground so it looks better, other than that i just dont want it to damage my car.

With rims, not lightweight, just something stylish.

Im not looking to take this car to the track or anything, i just want it to look nice.

Yeah get the Tein S techs, thats what I have. And as everyone else is saying....get the springs before the wheels.

Stock wheels + drop looks better that aftermarket wheels and 3 inch wheel well gap.

if you're determined to go springs, i think the TEIN H-techs are softer than the S-techs and MAY not kill your struts as quickly. someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Well if they are going to damage the car one way or another, im not really interested. I just want to lower the car in a cheap but safe way. As in i dont have to pay $700 for it and it wont damage any part of the car, and so the performance doesnt drop drastically, if there is a little bit of a downgrade, i dont care.

Unfortunately there are no cheap but safe methods, if you want coilovers, you have to pay.

So springs are just entirely a bad idea? Even if its a big brand name?

for a 4 door grocery getter car, yes. the struts are designed to work with a very soft suspension with a lot of travel.. add shorter springs that are stiffer and the combo doesnt work. You will blow struts.

Other cars you are able to buy springs and a set of stronger struts rated for a stiffer spring. we dont have this option on the lancer.
