ha, never heard of this many people going with smaller rims than stock. I don't care much for the stock rims, but I think they're the perfect size... unless the ride's too rough or something

well i dont see a problem with going a size lower. why is it always better to go a size higher? ive seen some cars with ridiculous large rims. and whats the purpose? i just think the 18s are too big once its lowered. anyways. thats just me 2 cents

There's nothing wrong with going smaller. Larger rims are traditionally more stylish than smaller rims, thats all, although I'd never go 19's. But of course 17's are probably better performance-wise and give a more comfortable ride (I've got 17's on my ride and I love em). I was just making a simple statement, that you don't see very often aftermarket rims that are smaller than stock. Of course with Lancers jumping from stock 15 oz rims to stock 18 inch rims is a big change between generations

i think lancer is a small compact car, not a full size sedan, so 18 is the maximum you should go...ive seen some OZ and ralliarts running with 18, they looked like boats floating on river...cuz they coundnt drop those cars since there were no more gaps between tires and fenders..,i refer dropped cars with small rim like 17s than running 18s no dropped

Yeah, but these aren't OZs and RAs. The 08s are built for bigger wheels/tires.

Gotta remember - even the ones running on 16" wheels have tires that make up the size difference. Every 08 Lancer has a wheel/tire combo that's the exact same height.

It's funny how people totally forget that the overall wheel diameter is always going to be the same no matter the size of the rim. The only difference is the percentage of that diameter thats rubber increases as you go smaller.

To blacksheep for knowing his stuff

The rest of ya'll get a big

I am dropped on 18's and I still have a little wheel gap. I plan on going about half an inch lower. Thanks.

I dont see a problem at all with you 08 guys going with 17's. If you do it right (coilovers) then it looks really good. I cant wait to see what your car looks like once its dropped.

Mine's lowered on 18's too and still a wheel gap. So it is possible on the 08.

What would be the biggest tire size on a 17 that will work with the gts? My buddy will possibly sell me his 17's with winter rubber for cheap. He had them on a new RX-8. Any suggestions or information about them and if they would work?
