17s

hi guys. im thinking of getting my rims soon. however, i have some questions before making any purchase.

1) im currently running on 18s stock. i think it looks too big. i would like to switch to 17s and lower my car. it would look dirty still. would the tire pressure sensor still work?

2) has anyone done this before? if so, any suggestions or pictures?\

thanks in advance.

Far as I know, most people have UPsized the wheels so far (no clue why).

17s will work fine. Just make sure you get the appropriate-sized tires and you're cool.

TPMS will work fine. Just make sure the shop transferring them over knows what they're doing. I'm not sure how common those things are. If you have to get new sensors, it's like $200 for the set and the you'd need the dealership to program them to your car.

thanks sheep, ill look into it. generally, 17 rims are at least 2-3 hundred dollars cheaper than 18-19s. so i guess i can use that saving to get myself new sensors.

I'm going with 16s to save even more money. I just have to get out of debt first.

Are you selling your 18s off to get the 17s? I am thinking of selling my 18s in the next few weeks so I can get 17s. I want to go with a wider 17 rather than the 18s. It is kinda of stupid that the car came with 18s from the factory. 17 inch would have been more than enough.

I bet if the car came with 17's everyone would say they wish it came with 18's. 17's give you a thicker sidewall which should be softer ride quality but less response...of course this all depends on tire qulaity too

wheel wells are huge though

i think with the 18s now, it looks a LITTLE big too big. i figured with the gts lowered, it will look better sitting on 17s, sheep, i saw a pic of the gts on 16s in europe. doesnt look THAT great. so please reconsider lol.

i just bought the rims yesterday. they look pretty nice. once i get the tires and install them. ill get the pix up. now i am just deciding to go with RRM GRIP or WORKS. hmm...

I've got an ES, but I'm thinking of putting snow tires on the stock 16s and picking up some nice 17s for the warmer months.
