Strange noises after Progress install

I recently installed the Progress lowering springs. Since then I have noticed a rattling noise whenver I go over a bump, but only notice it coming from the front. I have taken the strut assemblies completely off the car, re-checked to make sure all nuts/bolts were tight and put back together. I can only describe the noise that it would be close to the sound of brake-pads with no rattle clips installed. I am unable to reproduce the noise by pushing down on the car, but can hear it at low speeds, at about 10-15 mph it can become apparent. Any advice/experience is greatly appreciated.

Tyler

Thumbs down

I have the exact same problem after installing my Eibach springs! 10-15 mph over smaller rapid bumps with the stereo off and the blower on 1 or 2. It is not that loud but you know that something is not right.

Who installed your springs? Were the holes lined up when the springs were first installed? Do you have any other modifications (strut tie bar, brakes, intake, etc.)? Did you try wrapping the coils with the spring isolator wrap? Do you think the problem is in the springs, struts, or upper mounts?

i have the exact same problem but the noise is much louder and its coming from the front also. it also makes this noise when i press on the brakes. i was told that its the springs, so i bought new springs to see if it makes it better.

oh..the noise is low now...but it gets annoyingly louder and louder if you leave it alone...believe me. you should do something about it now or else it gets to my level...i went to the mitsu dealership and they told me our lancers arent built for lowered suspension....something about the tie rods being bent or warped due to your car bouncing up and down..right now i bought a strut bar and new springs... maybe i'll try the camber kit also see if that works.

I tried putting my stock springs back in and I am still getting noise from the front. I am not going to replace the front sturts with factory ones, but I have thought about replacing the front upper sturt mounts. Has any one tried this and if so what was the outcome? The first 24 hours I had my Eibach's in the drainage holes were not lined up(crazy noise up front). Maybe this messed up the upper mounts?

No one has struts for the oz/ls suspension out right now. RallyArt had some, but not any more. Right now our only option is to get coilovers (JIC or TEIN). I spoke with someone at tokico and they said they would have a full product line for our car by March.

I wonder if there is any merit behind this "tie rod" or whatever info from the dealer......I constantly see lowered lancers with big suspension problems. Only way I've been able to fix it is with Tein's, but not everyone has 1k to blow on a set. Before that I has Eibachs and Tein S-Tech's with the RalliArt struts. With each of those I still had the low speed rattle and blew a Ralliart strut way tooooo easily.
