Alignment needed?
I just got new tires and new brakes. My car seemed to be pulling a bit towards the right before I got new tires & brakes, now when I let go of wheel it obviously goes to the right. I figured I need to get my wheels aligned, so I called the local gas station and I was told that this should be covered by the warranty and give the dealer a call. Is this true?
You might want to go the free route and check your tire pressure first. Misbalanced tire pressures can cause a car to pull. They might have inflated them wrong when the new tires were installed. Just a thought...
did you get grippier tires, wider tires, larger rim diameter, lower profile tires, or a combinationg of the above? In that case, you are probably experiencing the same "torque steer" you felt before, but more prominent with your improved traction. Lancers (and most FWD cars) are known to pull to the right for this reason. I learned to drive accordingly, and then my alignment guy put 1/4 more camber on the left side to counteract it, but I don't notice any difference.
If your dealership is anything like mine, they won't give you a free alignment. The only reason I got one was because I had the car two weeks and they decided I couldn't have possibly screwed up the alignment as bad as it was. Normally, they assume you hit a pothole and that's your fault, so you pay. But I could be wrong.
