brake fluid

I was watching some japanese tuning videos and a basic upgrade seems to be upgrading the brake fluid. Now i didnt do a search cause im lazy, and i havent heard too much talk about brake fluids.

My question is, how would changing brake fluids change performance of the brakes and what kinds of brake fluids there are. Thx in advance!

the brake fluid in the car right now is Dot 4 rated. That's pretty good for street use. Changing the brake fluid will not make you barke better. The difference in brake fluid simply consist of the boiling point of the fluid. DOT 1-4 the higher the # the higher the boiling point. If you are racing on the track, then upgrade the fluid.

I use ATE Super Blue in my cars. Aside from having a super-high dry boiling point of over 500-degrees F, it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere much more slowly than "normal" brake fluids.

Therefore, you have less corrosion (long-term) in your brake system, and you can go longer before changing it out (if desired). Also, you won't be as likely to boil it and lose your braking feel....

yep!....

but aren't most of those (DOT-5 brake fluids) silicone based?...and some systems are not equipped to handle the silicone fluids without damage, if I'm correct.....but maybe that's not the case with the newer cars, I don't know for sure...
